Teresa Palmer has been officially confirmed as part of Prime Video’s upcoming God of War live-action adaptation. Amazon MGM Studios announced that Palmer will play Sif, the wife of Thor, in the series.
The update follows our earlier report on Palmer joining the project and comes directly from Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television as the show continues pre-production in Vancouver.
Character Details for Sif
According to the official character description, Sif is portrayed as a mortal woman who was raised to a goddess after marrying Thor. Despite her status, she is described as feeling like an outsider among the gods of Asgard.
Sif is also identified as a mother of three who was unable to prevent Thor’s descent into misery following the tragic events of a war in the distant past. The description frames her as a survivor who has navigated the world of the gods through intelligence and resolve rather than power alone.
Casting Continues as Production Moves Forward
Palmer joins a growing cast led by Ryan Hurst as Kratos. Previously announced cast members include Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Jeff Gulka as Sindri, and Danny Woodburn as Brok.
The series has received a two-season order and is being produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions.
Story and Creative Team
God of War follows Kratos and his son Atreus as they set out to spread the ashes of Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother, Faye. Over the course of the journey, Kratos attempts to guide his son toward becoming a better god, while Atreus challenges his father to confront his past and grow beyond it.
The series is led by showrunner Ronald D. Moore, who also serves as executive producer and writer. Frederick E. O. Toye is set to direct the first two episodes.
No release window has been announced.
