Teresa Palmer has joined the cast of Prime Video’s upcoming God of War live-action series, starring alongside Ryan Hurst as Kratos.
According to a report from Deadline, Palmer will play Phoebe, also known as Sif, Thor’s wife and the goddess of family. Amazon declined to comment on the casting.
Expanding the Cast of God of War
The God of War series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. The project has received a two-season order, with pre-production underway in Vancouver and casting continuing.
Palmer joins the series shortly after Ryan Hurst was announced as Kratos. Hurst previously voiced Thor in God of War Ragnarök, linking the live-action adaptation to the franchise’s modern era.
A Story Focused on Kratos and Atreus
The live-action adaptation follows Kratos and his young son, Atreus, as they journey to spread the ashes of Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother, Faye. The series is expected to closely track the emotional arc established in the recent games, focusing on the evolving relationship between father and son.
Rather than centering solely on Kratos’ past as a warrior and god, the show is built around how he tries to guide Atreus, while Atreus pushes him to confront his own history and what kind of person he wants to be now.
Creative Team and Production Details
The series is led by Ronald D. Moore, who serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Frederick E. O. Toye is set to direct the first two episodes.
Additional executive producers include Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, and Ben McGinnis serve as co-executive producers.
Teresa Palmer’s Background
Palmer is known for her work across film and television, including A Discovery of Witches, Warm Bodies, Hacksaw Ridge, Berlin Syndrome, and The Fall Guy. She recently wrapped production on Subversion, an Amazon MGM Studios film starring Chris Hemsworth, Lily James, and Michael Peña.
No release window has been announced yet for the God of War series.
