By Jon Scarr
I’ve spent half my life chasing down Nintendo merch, and the latest Build-A-Bear Workshop Super Mario collection is back on shelves. Build-A-Bear Workshop brought the lineup back to celebrate the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which has been out in theatres since the start of April. Our household has already seen the film several times, and as lifelong fans, the excitement hasn't slowed down one bit.
You can pick up the collection right now through the official Build-A-Bear website and most retail locations. This set features a mix of standalone plushies like Bowser and Yoshi alongside dress-up sets for Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach.
My family is a massive Nintendo house. We named our son Mario after the man himself, so we’re always looking for new ways to bring these characters home.
Bowser and Yoshi Lead the Pack
The star of the show in the current set is definitely the Bowser plush. He's a chunky, detailed version of the King of the Koopas that stands as a collector's item rather than a standard bear.
He comes with an optional 5-in-1 sound chip. This add-on gives him several voice lines and sound effects from the games. It’s a great touch for a character that usually just grunts in most toys.

Build-A-Bear Workshop lists Yoshi as a standalone plush too. You should know that Yoshi is currently an online exclusive. If you're planning a trip to a physical workshop, you won't find him sitting on the shelves.
Super Mario Dress Up Sets for Every Bear
If you don't want a standalone character, the collection focuses on costume options. You can build a standard bear and dress it in Mario, Luigi, or Princess Peach outfits.
These sets stay very close to the classic in-game looks. The Mario and Luigi sets include their iconic overalls and hats. The Princess Peach dress is a sparkly version of her signature pink gown.
These are great if you already have a favourite bear at home and just want to give it a Nintendo makeover. I’ve seen my daughter do this with her own plushies. It’s a fun way to refresh an old toy with something you actually care about.

Finding the Super Mario Collection at Retail
You can find most of these items at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores across Canada and the US right now. Stock levels can vary by location. Calling ahead is a smart move if you're looking for a specific costume.
The official Build-A-Bear website is the most reliable way to see the full range. It’s also the only place to get Yoshi. Shipping times are usually pretty quick for Nintendo items.
I recommend checking the "Online Exclusive" section of the site regularly. These types of toys tend to sell out fast now that the Super Mario Galaxy Movie is in theatres.
Build-A-Bear Super Mario Items Are Worth Adding
This collection hits a nice balance for fans. The Bowser plush is the winner here for any shelf. The costume sets provide an easy way for younger fans to play with their favourite heroes.
I’ve been gaming since the 80s and collecting Mario gear for just as long. This lineup is a solid addition for anyone who loves the Mushroom Kingdom. It’s simple, well-made, and fits perfectly into any Nintendo-focused household.
