The Yoshi Popcorn Bucket is coming to Cineplex theatres on April 1, 2026 while quantities last

Planning to catch The Super Mario Galaxy Movie at Cineplex on opening night? You've got another reason to show up early. Cineplex just revealed the Yoshi Popcorn Bucket, available at select theatre locations starting April 1, while quantities last.

The bucket itself is hard to miss. It's a Yoshi figure holding a popcorn bowl. That's it. That's all it needs to be. It's exactly the kind of theatre merch that disappears fast. If you've seen how quickly limited buckets sell out at other chains, you already know how this goes. Show up early or miss out. There's no other way to say it.

Cineplex is calling this part of their "super merch" lineup for the film. That wording suggests there could be more items coming beyond just the Yoshi bucket. Nothing else has been confirmed yet, but it's worth keeping an eye on as April 1 gets closer.

Opening Night at Cineplex Is Shaping Up Nicely

This is shaping up to be a genuinely fun opening night if you're a Nintendo fan. Nintendo of Canada is bringing Nintendo Switch 2 demos to select Cineplex locations ahead of the film's release. Add a Yoshi Popcorn Bucket to the mix and opening night at Cineplex feels like a proper Mario event. I'll be keeping an eye on whether any additional merch gets announced before April 1.

The marketing push around this film has been relentless. We've already seen the final trailer Direct announced for March 9. Yoshi has been central to the promotional push from the start. It makes complete sense that he's the first piece of theatre merch revealed.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opens April 1, 2026. It's from Nintendo and Illumination, distributed by Universal Pictures worldwide.
