| The exclusive Yoshi Bobblehead is available to the first 40,000 fans at Dodger Stadium on March 31, 2026 |
By Jon Scarr
This one is genuinely fun. The Los Angeles Dodgers and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are teaming up for a themed night at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:10pm. The first 40,000 fans through the gates get an exclusive Yoshi Bobblehead presented by The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The Dodgers host the Cleveland Guardians that night.
The bobblehead is a special edition featuring Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the Dodgers ace pitcher whose childhood nickname is Yoshi. The back of the jersey reads "Yoshi" in traditional Japanese. As far as movie tie-ins go, this one is almost too perfect. Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Yoshi. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It writes itself.
Yamamoto is one of the biggest names in baseball right now. Signing him was a massive deal for the Dodgers. His childhood nickname just happens to be Yoshi. That lines up perfectly with one of the most iconic Nintendo characters ever. It's the kind of coincidence that marketing teams dream about. Nintendo and the Dodgers clearly ran with it, and honestly, good for them. This is creative cross-promotion done right.
The Timing Could Not Be Better
The game is March 31. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opens April 1. If you're in the LA area and you're a Mario fan, that's a perfect way to kick off opening weekend. Watch Yoshi pitch. Walk out with a Yoshi Bobblehead. Head to the theatre the next morning. That's a pretty great 24 hours for any Nintendo fan.
Tickets are available at dodgers.com/tickets. The Yoshi Bobblehead goes to the first 40,000 fans in attendance. Don't show up late for this one. 40,000 sounds like a lot until the gates open and you realise everyone else had the same idea.
The marketing rollout for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie keeps delivering. Every week there's something new worth talking about. Universal Studios already announced themed park experiences at both Hollywood and Orlando. A Dodger Stadium night with a Yoshinobu Yoshi Bobblehead might be the most unexpected one yet.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opens in theatres April 1, 2026. It's from Nintendo and Illumination, distributed by Universal Pictures worldwide.
