Nintendo is heading to PAX East 2026 in Boston from March 26 to 29 with a hands-on lineup built around Nintendo Switch 2. Three games are on the show floor and two of them are ones I'm genuinely excited about.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park
Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park is playable at booth 18019 and it launches on March 26, the same day PAX East opens. The timing is no accident. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition adds new co-op and competitive gameplay to the Flower Kingdom, and the new Bellabel Park area brings three plazas packed with multiplayer challenges and solo activities on top of what was already there. PAX East attendees get to try it before most people even have it in their hands at home.
Pokémon Pokopia and Pokémon Champions
Both Pokémon titles are at booth 18031. Pokémon Pokopia is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive where you play as a Ditto that has transformed to look like a human, using transformation and crafting abilities to restore a withered world and build a cozy life with Pokémon friends. It's a different kind of Pokémon game and honestly it's the one I'm most curious about at the show. Ditto as the player character is a genuinely interesting premise.
Pokémon Champions is coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 via backward compatibility. It's a battle-focused game built around online Single and Double Battles using familiar Pokémon mechanics including types, abilities, and more. Ranked and Casual Battles are both available, along with Private Battles for friends and family. Pokémon Champions will also be compatible with Pokémon HOME, a free app that lets you store and transfer Pokémon across different games in the series, so you'll be able to bring in Pokémon from past games and from Pokémon GO.
