| Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition leads this week’s Nintendo Download on Nintendo Switch 2. |
By Jon Scarr
Some Nintendo Download weeks are mostly smaller eShop drops. This week has a bit more bite. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is available now, Star Fox has a free demo ahead of launch, and Nintendo has several fall pre-orders ready on Nintendo eShop.
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Star Fox turn this into a very Nintendo-heavy week for Nintendo Switch 2. After this week’s Nintendo Direct, a few of these updates also connect directly to games Nintendo just put back in front of everyone. Star Fox has a demo, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort pre-orders are open, STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions is on Nintendo Switch 2, and the Donkey Kong Bananza events add another reason to check in.
Nintendo Switch 2: Choose Your Game Bundle is now available in Canada for $699.99, with savings of up to $39.99 depending on the retailer. Each bundle includes a Nintendo Switch 2 system and a download code for one digital game, with Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Pokémon Pokopia as the three choices.
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Returns On Nintendo Switch 2
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is available now, and this version adds more than the usual resolution bump. On compatible TVs, it supports 4K resolution. In handheld mode, it runs at full HD, with 60 fps across both ways to play.
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is the place to start because this edition changes both how the game looks and how quickly you can move through its huge areas. The Nintendo Switch 2 version adds a high-speed vehicle, racing modes with in-game rewards, new equipment designs, and new voiceover for Heart-to-Heart scenes.
Anyone who already owns Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch can also buy an upgrade pack. Anyone who already owns Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch can also buy an upgrade pack. That makes the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition easier to jump into if you already have Shulk’s adventure in your library.
STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions Brings Astroneer To Nintendo Switch 2
STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions is also available now on Nintendo Switch 2. This is a new game set in the Astroneer universe, but it shifts the focus toward team expeditions aboard the ESS Starseeker.
The main idea is deep-space exploration with a crew, timed missions, and resource gathering across unknown planetary regions. The game is centred on discovery and co-op, with your squad working toward both mission goals and the wider needs of the station.
It’s one of the week’s better third-party additions because it isn’t just another port filling out the list. STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions brings a recognizable survival-adventure universe to Nintendo Switch 2 with a different structure from the original Astroneer.
Star Fox Gets A Free Demo Before Launch
Star Fox launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25, 2026, but you don’t have to wait until then to try it. A free demo is available now on Nintendo eShop.
A demo makes sense for Star Fox because movement and shooting need to feel right the moment you take control. This Nintendo Switch 2 version keeps the classic Star Fox 64 action and adds new modes, online multiplayer, full voice work, and an orchestral soundtrack.
The update also brings refreshed stage visuals, updated character designs, and cutscenes to the Lylat System. I’m glad Nintendo is letting people try this one early, especially for anyone still deciding how much they want from this new Nintendo Switch 2 version.
Nintendo Switch 2 Bundle Adds Three Digital Game Choices
Nintendo Switch 2: Choose Your Game Bundle is now available in Canada through participating retailers for a limited time with supply limits. The suggested retail price is $699.99, with savings of up to $39.99 depending on the retailer.
The bundle includes a Nintendo Switch 2 system and one digital game download code. The three choices are Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Pokémon Pokopia.
The three game choices split the bundle into three clear lanes. Mario Kart World is the safer pick if you want multiplayer right away, Donkey Kong Bananza is the pick if you want a first-party adventure, and Pokémon Pokopia is there for anyone already waiting on Nintendo’s next Pokémon life-sim spin.
Pre-Orders Open For Four Nintendo Switch 2 Games
ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on Aug. 28, 2026, and pre-orders are open now on Nintendo eShop. This edition includes the base game, SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE expansion, new weapons, armour, a new Torrent appearance customization, and more.
Minecraft Dungeons II launches Sept. 29, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The new action RPG adventure returns to the Minecraft Dungeons world with new locations, allies, challenges, and another fight to save a world in crisis.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches Oct. 22, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. This new entry returns to Wuhu Island with motion controls using Joy-Con 2 controllers. The sports list includes Boxing, Table Tennis, Archery, Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Basketball, Golf, Thumb Wrestling, Skateboarding, Power Cruising, and Prop Plane. Jump Rope warm-ups are included too.
Orbitals launches Sept. 3, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2. This two-player co-op adventure follows Maki and Omura beyond the Storm Wall in a retro anime-inspired universe. The key here is teamwork. Orbitals sounds like the kind of game where communication is the difference between a clean escape and watching everything fall apart.
Nintendo Music Adds Super Mario Galaxy And Nature Playlists
Nintendo Music has two updates this week. The Free Roam with Super Mario Galaxy and Free Roam with Super Mario Galaxy 2 playlists have been added, with tracks including “Egg Planet (Super Mario Galaxy)” and “Sky Station Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy 2).”
The Nature playlist has also been added. It includes songs such as “Sun-Speckled Terrace,” “Shiveria Snowscape,” and “By the Water,” with a focus on tracks that fit outdoor time, studying, or winding down.
The Super Mario Galaxy playlists are the easy win here. Those soundtracks still hit hard, and seeing Nintendo keep adding music from both Galaxy games makes the app more useful for anyone who has been using it beyond simple nostalgia.
Donkey Kong Events Add Mario Gear And Nintendo Classics Challenges
Donkey Kong Bananza is getting a limited-time Super Mario collaboration event through the DK Island & Emerald Rush paid DLC. To access it, you need to have beaten the main game and purchased the DLC. The event adds outfits for Donkey Kong and Pauline inspired by Mario and Luigi, along with ? Blocks, Super Mushrooms, and more. The first wave ends June 30 at 12:59 a.m. PT.
DK Challenge is also live through 12:59 a.m. PT on Sept. 1. Nintendo Switch 2 owners with an active Nintendo Switch Online membership can take on Donkey Kong challenges across NES, Super NES, and Game Boy games available through Nintendo Classics.
Completing those challenges earns collectible digital Challenge Cards. If you own Donkey Kong Bananza, you also get access to extra challenges. If you’re already playing Donkey Kong Bananza, the extra challenges give you one more reason to revisit the older Donkey Kong games.
