| FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is available now on Nintendo Switch 2. |
By Jon Scarr
It’s Thursday, and that means we have another batch of games and updates to check out on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Download for June 4, 2026 brings FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH to Nintendo Switch 2, adding one of the system’s biggest RPGs so far.
This week also has eFootball Kick-Off! for Nintendo Switch 2, Donkey Kong 64 through Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, new Nintendo Music support across more devices, and a fresh Donkey Kong Bananza DLC event starting soon. There’s enough here for Nintendo Switch 2 owners, longtime Nintendo 64 fans, and anyone already using Nintendo’s online services.
FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is going to grab most of the attention this week, but Donkey Kong 64 joining the Nintendo Classics lineup hits a different kind of nostalgia. I’ve got a lot of memories tied to Rare’s Nintendo 64 era, and seeing another major game from that period arrive on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack always gets my attention. Here’s what’s new on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch this week.
FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH Arrives On Nintendo Switch 2
FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is available now on Nintendo Switch 2. It’s the second entry in the FINAL FANTASY VII remake series, following Cloud Strife and his allies after they leave Midgar behind and continue their search for Sephiroth.
This entry opens the journey up beyond the city, with larger areas to explore, chocobos to ride, and new encounters across the world. Cloud’s past with Sephiroth remains central to the story, but the bigger shift here is the move from Midgar into a much wider adventure.
For Nintendo Switch 2, FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH adds another third-party RPG to the library during the system’s first year. That’s a good get for the platform, especially for anyone who wants to continue Cloud’s story on Nintendo hardware.
eFootball Kick-Off! Brings Soccer To Nintendo Switch 2
eFootball Kick-Off! is also available now on Nintendo Switch 2. The game includes offline and online play, with solo options and matches with friends depending on how you want to play.
World Tour mode lets you build your own club team and compete around the globe. International Cup mode shifts the focus to national teams, with matchups built around global competition.
Newcomers can jump into six-a-side matches, which are built around faster chances and more goal-scoring opportunities. There’s also a Rank-based system that evaluates your performance as you learn how to play better matches. For eFootball fans, the six-a-side matches sound like the quickest way to jump in without dealing with the full pace of standard matches right away.
Donkey Kong 64 Joins Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack
Donkey Kong 64 is available now for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. The Nintendo 64 game originally launched in 1999, and it brings Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong back together for a big collectible-heavy adventure.
The story has Donkey Kong taking on King K. Rool and the Kremlings after his friends are captured and his Golden Bananas are stolen. Each Kong has different abilities, which means exploration is built around switching between characters, finding upgrades, and returning to areas with the right moves.
Donkey Kong 64 is very much a game from its era, right down to the huge number of collectibles and minigames. That’s part of the charm, though. If you grew up with Nintendo 64, this is one of those games that instantly brings back the look and feel of that generation.
Nintendo Music Adds More Device Support And New Soundtracks
Nintendo Music has expanded to more devices. You can now listen through computers, tablets, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, which makes the service more practical outside of your phone.
There’s also a new My Mix feature that creates playlists based on your play history. That feature isn’t available in the web browser version, but it should make Nintendo Music feel more personalized when you’re using supported devices.
This week’s soundtrack updates include select tracks from Mario Kart World, with “Mario Bros. Circuit,” “Peach Beach,” and “Moo Moo Meadows” added to the service. More Free Roam tracks are planned for the future.
The Pikmin soundtrack is also now available on Nintendo Music. Tracks include “The Forest of Hope,” “The Forest Navel,” and “The Distant Spring,” making it a good week for Nintendo fans who use the service during work, travel, or downtime.
Donkey Kong Bananza DLC Event Starts June 9
Donkey Kong Bananza is getting another monthly event through its DK Island + Emerald Rush paid DLC. The Kong Bananza Returns event begins June 9, 2026 at 1 a.m. PT and ends June 16, 2026 at 12:59 p.m. PT.
This event takes place in Canyon Layer and lets you collect statues of Tiki Kong and Tiki Goon. If you’re already playing the DK Island + Emerald Rush DLC, this is the next limited-time reason to jump back in.
It also keeps Donkey Kong in the middle of this week’s Nintendo news, with Donkey Kong 64 arriving through Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack and Donkey Kong Bananza getting a new DLC event within the same update window.
