| Super Mario Galaxy Movie cereal boxes for Lucky Charms and Trix spotted on Walmart shelves. |
By Jon Scarr
Super Mario Galaxy Movie–themed cereal has started appearing at Walmart stores, roughly three months before Nintendo’s next Mario movie, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to release on April, 3 2026.
There has been no official announcement from Nintendo, General Mills, or Illumination. Instead, the cereal was spotted in-store and shared online, pointing to an early retail rollout rather than a coordinated reveal.
The in-store sighting was first shared online by cereal collectors @cereal_cornucopia and @twiggmartin.
Two Super Mario Galaxy Movie-Themed Cereals Have Been Spotted at Walmart
Photos from Walmart shelves show two different Super Mario Galaxy Movie cereal boxes tied to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which is currently scheduled to arrive in theatres on April, 3 2026.
The cereals spotted so far include:
- Strawberry Lucky Charms with Galactic Marshmallows, featuring new pastel, planet-style marshmallows
- Blue Raspberry Trix with Galactic Corn Puffs, swapping the usual shapes for round, space-inspired pieces
Both boxes are labelled family size and feature Galaxy-themed artwork with Mario prominently displayed. Despite the movie branding appearing on the packaging, there has not been a broader marketing push alongside these in-store sightings.
No Release Details Have Been Shared Officially Yet
There is no confirmation on whether these cereals are exclusive to Walmart, how widely they will be distributed, or how long they will be available. Retail sightings like this can happen ahead of planned marketing, especially for licensed products tied to major releases.
If more retailers begin carrying the cereal, or if Nintendo or General Mills posts an official reveal, this story will get a lot clearer fast.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Is About Three Months Away
Nintendo’s next Mario film is now roughly three months away, with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie currently scheduled to release in April 2026. We have been tracking the film since it was first revealed during Nintendo’s 40th anniversary Direct, followed by the first Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer, a Japanese-language trailer reveal, and comments from Jack Black suggesting longtime Galaxy fans will feel right at home with the new film.
With movie-branded cereal already showing up on shelves, it looks like the promotional rollout is starting to surface ahead of the theatrical release. If you spot these Super Mario Galaxy themed cereal boxes locally, let us know in the comments below.
