Lara Croft is making a comeback. Earlier today, Geoff Keighley and The Game Awards confirmed on social media and inside Fortnite that the iconic Tomb Raider hero will be part of this year’s show. The reveal followed weeks of Fortnite activity tied to the event.
How Fortnite Teased Lara’s Return
Fortnite fans have been exploring The Game Awards Vote in Fortnite, a playable hub featuring ten creator built islands. While voting took place for Best Fortnite Island of 2025, something else was brewing underground. Hidden beneath the surface were four ancient nodes. As gamers completed challenges across these islands, they charged a massive portal projector at the center of the hub.
That buildup paid off during a synchronized global event. The projector powered up and revealed the unmistakable silhouette of Lara Croft. It confirmed her return and set the stage for whatever comes next.
You will be able to watch The Game Awards on Thursday, December 11, when it streams worldwide from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The broadcast is also available on Prime Video this year. Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics say they will share what is ahead for the Tomb Raider franchise. It could be a full reveal of a new game or something smaller. We will find out soon, but it feels exciting to see Lara take the spotlight again.
