Nintendo released its latest financial results today, November 5th, with updated sales figures for Nintendo Switch 2 consoles and games through September 30, 2026. Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 26.35 million consoles worldwide, and Mario Kart World has reached 16.48 million copies.
Nintendo sold fewer consoles than it did during the same six months last year, but software sales increased on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. Operating profit climbed 49.1%, even though overall revenue fell.
Nintendo Switch 2 Sells 2.67 Million Consoles in Latest Quarter
From July through September 2026, Nintendo sold 2.67 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. That's down from 3.82 million in the previous quarter, bringing the six-month total to 6.49 million.
The total is down 37.4% from the same period last year, which included the Nintendo Switch 2 launch. Nintendo sold 10.36 million consoles during those six months.
Nintendo Switch also sold another 610,000 units in the latest quarter, bringing its lifetime total to 157.20 million. It sold 1.27 million consoles across April through September, down 32.7% year over year.
These are Nintendo's sell-in figures. That means they include consoles sold to retailers as well as purchases made directly from Nintendo.
Donkey Kong Bananza Passes 5 Million Copies Sold
Donkey Kong Bananza is now Nintendo Switch 2's second-best-selling game, with 5.05 million copies sold. Mario Kart World sold another 1.78 million copies between April and September.
Here's how those game sales compare with Nintendo's June 30th figures:
Nintendo Switch 2 Best-Selling Games
| Game | Total sales | Sales since June 30 |
|---|---|---|
| Mario Kart World | 16.48 million | +1.09 million |
| Donkey Kong Bananza | 5.05 million | +270,000 |
| Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | 4.04 million | +50,000 |
| Pokémon Pokopia* | 4.04 million | +360,000 |
| Splatoon Raiders | 2.42 million | New to chart |
| Kirby Air Riders | 1.94 million | +40,000 |
| Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave | 1.34 million | New to chart |
| Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | 1.28 million | +130,000 |
| Star Fox | 1.17 million | New to chart |
Changes compare Nintendo's published lifetime totals from June 30 and September 30, 2026. “New to chart” identifies games that were released after the prior reporting period.
Pokémon Pokopia's reported total and increase exclude Japan, where The Pokémon Company is the publisher.
Mario Kart World has sold more than three times as many copies as Donkey Kong Bananza. Across both console editions, Pokémon Legends: Z-A has reached 13.31 million copies. Super Mario Party Jamboree stands at 12.01 million across its Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 releases.
Software Sales Grow on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch
Nintendo Switch 2 software sales reached 24.49 million copies from April through September, up 18.8% year over year. Nintendo Switch software sales reached 65.73 million, an increase of 6.8%. Lifetime Nintendo Switch 2 software sales now stand at 73.21 million copies.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream sold 8.81 million copies on Nintendo Switch during those six months. Rhythm Heaven Groove sold 2.89 million. You can play both games on Nintendo Switch 2, too.
Games bundled with consoles are included in Nintendo's software unit sales, but revenue from those bundles counts toward console sales.
Digital sales rose 60.5% to ¥249.6 billion, including downloadable games, add-on content and Nintendo Switch Online. That accounted for 60.7% of Nintendo's console software sales, compared with 54.5% a year earlier.
Nintendo's Operating Profit Rises Despite Lower Revenue
Nintendo brought in ¥966 billion in sales from April through September, down 12.1% from a year ago. But operating profit climbed 49.1% to ¥216.5 billion.
Part of the difference comes from software accounting for a greater share of Nintendo's sales. Around US$300 million in refunds of previously paid U.S. tariffs also reduced its costs during the first quarter.
Nintendo hasn't changed its forecast of 16.5 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles sold during the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027. After selling 6.49 million in the first six months, it needs to sell just over 10 million more before the fiscal year ends. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launched on Nintendo Switch 2 today. Its arrival ahead of the holidays could help Nintendo close that gap.
