CD PROJEKT RED has announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered launches September 29 on Nintendo Switch 2. The new version adds Nintendo Switch 2 controls, visual and performance improvements, and a free upgrade for anyone who owns the Nintendo Switch release.
Remastered includes the base game, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. It also arrives ahead of Songs of the Past, a new third expansion coming in 2027.
Nintendo Switch 2 Controls Change How Geralt Plays
The Nintendo Switch 2 version uses several hardware-specific control options. Motion controls can cast Witcher Signs, fire Geralt's crossbow, throw bombs, drink potions and control Roach's speed.
Gyro aiming gives you another option for lining up attacks. Mouse controls are supported too, while touch-screen support lets you browse the map and menus.
The touch screen goes a little further than that. CD PROJEKT RED says you can even use it to play Gwent.
Remastered Overhauls Combat, Progression and Visuals
Nintendo Switch 2 hardware brings higher visual fidelity and improved performance, but the Remastered changes go beyond resolution and frame rate.
Combat and animations have been overhauled. The skills and character progression systems have also been redesigned, while monster behaviours have been updated. Transmogrification and an expanded photo mode are part of the package too.
The September release still includes Geralt's full main adventure plus Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
Nintendo Switch Owners Get a Free Upgrade
If you own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade won't cost extra. Digital owners can pre-order Remastered for free now through Nintendo eShop.
Physical Nintendo Switch owners will be able to claim the upgrade when Remastered launches September 29. New buyers can pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 version now.
Songs of the Past follows in 2027 and sends Geralt to a new realm called Letten. The third expansion is already available to wishlist.
