Santa Monica Studio has announced new God of War Laufey pre-order and combat details ahead of the game’s February 16, 2027 launch on PS5. Pre-orders open September 29 at 10 a.m. local time, with bonuses for early orders and a separate Digital Deluxe Edition, while new gameplay footage and screenshots give us another look at Faye in combat.
Faye’s Serpent Bow can switch between precise ranged attacks and a faster hip-fire stance, with different arrow types, unlockable skills, and interchangeable Scales changing how it works. It adds considerably more detail to the combat we first saw when God of War Laufey closed PlayStation’s June State of Play.
Pre-Orders Include Bonus Armour And Resources
Pre-ordering God of War Laufey before launch includes the Last Wish Armor Set, the cosmetic Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance, and an in-game resource pack. The armour set and Phranque appearance unlock through story progression.
Physical Standard Edition copies include the pre-order bonus through a download code.
Digital Deluxe Edition Adds Dark Alchemy Gear
The Digital Deluxe Edition adds the Dark Alchemy Armor Set, Dark Alchemy Blade, Dark Alchemy Bow Scales, and Dark Alchemy Catalyst. It also includes an in-game resource pack, digital mini artbook, and the official God of War Laufey digital soundtrack.
The Dark Alchemy gear unlocks through story progression.
Faye’s Serpent Bow Supports Two Aim Styles
Faye’s Serpent Bow gives her options at close range and from a distance. Fully pressing the aim trigger enters full-aim mode, increasing precision and draw distance. Hitting certain areas of an enemy can also limit movement or attacks, creating an opening for Faye to follow with a melee strike.
Full-aim also lets Faye charge the bow and stack up to five arrows before releasing them together. That can work with Phranque’s ability to launch enemies into the air, giving Faye another way to continue an attack after they leave the ground.
A half press of the aim trigger switches to a more mobile hip-fire stance. Faye can fire clusters of arrows at close range, juggle airborne enemies, and extend combos while moving between weapons and abilities.
The Serpent Bow also supports rapid-fire, explosive, and multi-target arrow types. Different Scales alter its appearance and specialize the bow through unique perks, while unlockable skills expand its capabilities further.
Faye’s other equipment can be customized as well. Armour options offer different stats, gameplay perks, and looks, while her Blade, Bow Scales, and Catalysts can be changed to support different approaches to combat. Catalysts channel magic from the Everywhen and come with different effects.
