The June 2026 PlayStation State of Play brought new gameplay for Marvel’s Wolverine and revealed God of War Laufey. It also confirmed dates for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant, and more.

Marvel’s Wolverine opened the show, while God of War Laufey closed it. Those two games bookended the event, but PlayStation had plenty more ready in between. This is the kind of show I like covering because you leave with real games and dates, not just vague teases and logo reveals.

Marvel’s Wolverine Shows More Gameplay And Story Details

Marvel’s Wolverine opened the State of Play with Insomniac Games showing a longer gameplay segment from Logan’s PS5 adventure. The footage moved quickly from close-range combat into the mutant conflict behind the story, with the Reavers taking captured mutants to Bolivar Trask.

Jean Grey also appeared in the trailer, and Team X is part of the story after Logan rejoins the mutant task force three years after leaving. The trailer also teased more characters, enemy factions, suits, and Sabretooth.

Combat centres on close-range claw attacks, ambushes, parries, Rage, and Techniques such as Tornado Spin and Bull Rush. Logan can use Rage for stronger attacks or to trigger his Healing Factor, and Critical Strikes create takedown opportunities alone or alongside other characters.

The trailer gave Logan’s story more shape instead of relying only on the fact that he’s Wolverine. That was the part I wanted to see most from this showing, especially with Jean Grey, Team X, the Reavers, Bolivar Trask, and Sabretooth now in the mix.

Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis Brings Lara Back In 2027

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launches February 12, 2027, with Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog rebuilding Lara Croft’s original 1996 adventure as a full reimagining in Unreal Engine 5.

The State of Play trailer focused on Lara’s early adventure roots, with Peru’s Lost Valley and Greece among the areas shown. The Lost Valley has been rebuilt into larger semi-connected areas with secrets, collectibles, resources, and puzzles placed more naturally into the environment.

This version rebuilds the original game rather than simply cleaning it up. It keeps the recognizable pieces of Lara’s first adventure, but the areas, puzzles, combat, visuals, and sound are being rebuilt instead of touched up.

Until Dawn 2 Brings A New Cast To PS5 In 2027

Until Dawn 2 is coming to PS5 in 2027, and Firesprite is taking the sequel in a new direction. Instead of bringing back the original group, this is a standalone horror story with a new cast and new setting.

The story follows a ghost-hunting crew running a paranormal channel called Dead True. After signing with a TV network, the crew heads to an abandoned tropical island to film its first fully funded episode. Of course, the trip doesn’t stay focused on content creation for long.

Choices still drive the experience, but Firesprite is putting more emphasis on relationships between characters. Some story paths depend on how the crew feels about each other, and smaller decisions can still create serious consequences later. Dr Hill is also back, with Peter Stormare returning to the role.

Silent Hill: Townfall Locks In A September Release Date

Silent Hill: Townfall launches September 24, 2026, giving horror fans another major September release to watch. The new trailer introduced Zoe, a nurse from St. Amelia who had previously been heard through the CRTV device.

The game follows Simon, who doesn’t recognize St. Amelia and doesn’t know Zoe when she calls for him to return to the island. Screen Burn Interactive is keeping the story guarded for now, but the new trailer made the CRTV feel central to how you explore and survive.

Puzzles are tied directly to the story, with solutions revealing more about Simon, St. Amelia, and the people living there. Some encounters involve combat, while others are about evasion. Simon can also use the CRTV and a peek mechanic to judge danger before moving.

On PS5, Silent Hill: Townfall uses DualSense features including adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and motion-controlled elements tied to tuning the CRTV.

MARVEL Tōkon Adds Magneto Green Goblin And Carnage

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls used the State of Play to reveal the Knights of Doom, the fourth team on the roster. Doctor Doom leads the group, with Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage joining him.

Magneto uses magnetic fields and stage debris to strengthen his attacks. Green Goblin brings aerial movement, Pumpkin Bombs, Razor Bats, and his bat-shaped glider. Carnage uses symbiote tendrils and bladed arm transformations, with some attacks placing opponents into a temporary symbiote-infested state.

The update also introduced The Champion of the Universe as the main threat behind The Challenge of the Champion tournament. Teams of four compete for the chance to face him, which gives the game’s Episode Mode a clearer story setup.

Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage together makes the Knights of Doom one of the nastier groups revealed for the game so far.

Onimusha And Control Resonant Land In Late September

Late September got a lot more crowded during the State of Play. Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword all launch within two days of each other, which is a lot if you’re into horror, action, and weird supernatural stories.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches September 25, 2026. A PS5 demo is available now, covering about 30 minutes from the early story and the Kiyomizu-dera Temple stage.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword follows Miyamoto Musashi in early Edo-period Kyoto as he gains the power of the Oni and fights the Genma. Combat includes Parry, Deflect, Issen, Oni Armament, soul absorption, Reflex Combo, Oni Strength, and Oni Agility.

Control Resonant launches September 24, 2026. Remedy’s sequel moves the story to Manhattan, which has been changed by paranatural forces. This time, the story runs through Dylan Faden, while Jesse Faden remains central to what’s happening.

Dylan uses evolving abilities and a shapeshifting weapon called the Aberrant. Between Control Resonant and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, late September is going to hit pretty hard.

Rayman, Ace Combat, And Phantom Blade Zero Keep October Busy

Rayman Legends Retold launches October 1, 2026, bringing Ubisoft’s platformer back as a 3D reimagining. The game includes couch co-op for up to four people, voiced characters, returning levels, a new realm, four new musical stages, and Kung Foot.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered also launches October 1, 2026, reviving Dynasty Warriors 3 and Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve follows on October 2, 2026 with Campaign Mode, more than 30 aircraft, Joker Squadron, and large-scale aerial battles in Strangereal.

No Rest for the Wicked is coming in October 2026 with its full 1.0 release, while Phantom Blade Zero now has an October 29, 2026 date. PlayStation also confirmed a dedicated Phantom Blade Zero State of Play later in summer 2026.

Dune: Awakening arrives September 22, 2026 with a new single-player mode and cinematic story chapter. Marathon Season 2: Nightfall also started June 2, with Open Play Week running through June 9 and no PlayStation Plus required.

Kemuri, The Lost Wild, And PS Plus Added A Few More Updates

Kemuri is coming in 2027 from Unseen and Ikumi Nakamura, with supernatural action in Kemuri City and online co-op for up to two others. The Lost Wild is also planned for 2027, focusing on survival horror with dinosaurs where avoiding danger matters more than fighting everything head-on.

ILL brought first-person action horror to the State of Play, while Bancho The Chef offered a standalone Dave the Diver prequel focused on cooking, RPG elements, travel, fishing, and restaurant work. Stuntman: Hollywood is also coming soon with vehicle-based stunt jobs inspired by Fast & Furious, Back to the Future, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, and Death Race.

PlayStation Plus also had a few updates. RuneScape: Dragonwilds is coming to PS5 as a day-one Game Catalog addition. PS Plus Premium is adding Gitaroo Man in June 2026, Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy in July 2026, and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in August 2026.

God Of War Laufey Was PlayStation’s Final Big Reveal

Before the show wrapped with God of War Laufey, PlayStation still had a few more updates to get through. Once Santa Monica Studio appeared, it was clear PlayStation had saved one of its biggest reveals for last.

God of War Laufey closed the State of Play with the biggest first-party surprise of the show. Santa Monica Studio is making the next mainline God of War game, and this time the story follows Laufey, also known as Faye.

Faye wakes after her funeral in the Everywhen, a strange afterlife where magic returns and gods from different mythologies exist together. Her goal is tied to protecting Kratos and Atreus, but this is her story rather than another Kratos-led chapter.

Deborah Ann Woll returns as Faye, while Jack Quaid plays Phranque, a cosmic cube travelling with her. Rue, an enchanted ribbon guardian played by Perlina Lau, is also part of the adventure.

The gameplay trailer shows Faye moving through fights with more mobility than Kratos had in the recent Norse games. She can chain ground-to-air attacks, use a legendary sword, and manipulate souls during combat. PlayStation hasn’t dated God of War Laufey yet, but there’s a reason it was saved for the end of the show.

PlayStation State Of Play June 2026 Was Filled With A Lot Of New And Exciting Games

Wolverine may have opened the show, but God of War Laufey, Tomb Raider, Silent Hill, and MARVEL Tōkon made this feel like a much bigger event. Insomniac’s trailer brought new story and gameplay context for Logan, while Santa Monica Studio put Faye in the lead for the next mainline God of War game. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis brings Lara Croft back in February 2027, and Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword all land within two days of each other in September.

I liked that so many games left the show with something real to talk about. There were dates, playable demos, story details, and enough gameplay to make the show feel useful. By the end of the show, Wolverine, Faye, Lara Croft, Silent Hill, and MARVEL Tōkon all gave us something to keep an eye on.
