Square Enix has released Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion digitally on Nintendo Switch 2. The game is also 30% off for a limited time, with the launch offer ending September 23 at 11:59 p.m. local time.
The release arrived alongside today's Nintendo Direct, where Square Enix also showed Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Revelation launches April 8, 2027, giving you time to revisit Zack Fair's story before the remake trilogy concludes.
Crisis Core Is Available on Nintendo Switch 2 Now
Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion follows Zack Fair, a young Shinra SOLDIER operative. The story takes place seven years before the events of Final Fantasy VII.
His mission begins with the disappearance of another SOLDIER and pulls him into the secrets behind Shinra's experiments. Zack's path also puts him close to Sephiroth and events that become important later in Final Fantasy VII.
Reunion includes an HD graphics overhaul across character models, backgrounds and the user interface. Dialogue is fully voiced in English and Japanese, and the action combat system was updated for the remaster.
Square Enix also rearranged the soundtrack, with original composer Takeharu Ishimoto returning for the new versions of the music.
The 30% Launch Discount Ends September 23
The Nintendo Switch 2 digital version is 30% off until September 23 at 11:59 p.m. local time.
Square Enix's announcement focuses on the digital Nintendo Switch 2 release. No new physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition was announced as part of today's launch.
The timing puts Crisis Core back in the spotlight several months before Final Fantasy VII Revelation. That third and final entry in the remake project arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 April 8, 2027.
Zack's Story Comes Before Final Fantasy VII
Crisis Core takes place before Final Fantasy VII, but Zack's story connects directly to characters and events that carry into the larger story.
