RICOCHET Anti-Cheat has released new enforcement numbers as the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta gets underway. The anti-cheat team says it has disrupted more than 375 cheat reseller operations, issued more than 80 cease-and-desist demands, and shut down more than 30 vendors.
The numbers show another side of RICOCHET's work against cheating in Call of Duty. It's not only trying to catch cheats inside matches. Activision is also going after the groups selling and distributing them.
RICOCHET Is Going After the Cheat Business
RICOCHET says more than 375 cheat reseller operations have now been disrupted as part of its broader enforcement work. More than 80 cease-and-desist demands have also been issued, while more than 30 vendors have been shut down.
Those are three separate enforcement figures. Activision isn't saying all 375 reseller operations were businesses that were permanently closed.
It's an important distinction, but the overall direction is pretty clear. RICOCHET is putting more pressure on the supply side of Call of Duty cheating instead of focusing entirely on individual accounts caught using cheats.
That includes legal pressure through cease-and-desist demands and action against vendors selling cheat software. RICOCHET tied the latest update to Beta Weekend 1 as Modern Warfare 4 opens its doors to everyone.
Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta Is Now Live
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta went live August 28 at 10 a.m. PT and runs through September 1 at 10 a.m. PT.
No pre-order or beta code is required during the Open Beta. It's available on XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, PlayStation 5, Steam, Battle.net, and Nintendo Switch 2.
We've already covered the wider beta schedule in our recent Nintendo Download coverage, so I won't run through every map, mode, and reward again here. For RICOCHET, the important part is that Modern Warfare 4 is now entering a much wider public test.
That means its anti-cheat systems are being used during one of the biggest pre-launch periods for the game.
Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026.
PC Security Requirements Are Part of the Anti-Cheat Push
RICOCHET is also using additional security requirements on PC.
TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required for Modern Warfare 4 online modes on PC during the beta. Call of Duty says both technologies make it more difficult to tamper with a system and are part of the security foundation supporting RICOCHET.
A Secure Attestation Wizard can check whether a PC meets those requirements before entering online modes.
The PC requirements and the crackdown on cheat sellers attack the problem from different directions. One tries to make cheating harder at the system level. The other goes after the people selling the tools used to cheat in the first place.
With the Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta now live, we're getting a much clearer look at how far Activision is taking that second part of the fight.
