New casting details have surfaced for Nintendo and Sony's live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, with Deadline reporting that Uli Latukefu will play Ganondorf and Dichen Lachman will play Impa. The outlet also reports that Sam Neill, Yvonne Strahovski and Lydia Peckham have joined the movie, although not all of their characters have been identified.

Deadline says Strahovski is playing a queen character, while Neill and Peckham's roles remain undisclosed. They join Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda, expanding the known cast beyond the two leads Nintendo announced in July 2025.

Uli Latukefu Will Play Ganondorf And Dichen Lachman Is Impa

Deadline reports that Uli Latukefu will play Ganondorf, the movie's lead villain. The outlet confirmed the casting after The New York Times' Kyle Buchanan first reported that Latukefu had joined the movie.

Deadline also reports that Latukefu signed a multi-picture deal for the role, although no additional The Legend of Zelda movies have been announced. Latukefu is best known for playing a young Dwayne Johnson in Young Rock, with other credits including Black Adam, Next Goal Wins and MaXXXine.

Deadline's sources also identify Dichen Lachman as Impa, Princess Zelda's bodyguard and advisor. The Severance actress becomes the second newly reported cast member this week with a specifically identified Zelda character.

Sam Neill Filmed One Of His Final Screen Roles In Zelda

Sam Neill also filmed an undisclosed role in The Legend of Zelda before his death on July 13, 2026, at the age of 78.

Deadline reports that the Zelda movie will be one of Neill's final screen performances and potentially his last. His character hasn't been identified. The longtime Jurassic Park actor also completed work on the upcoming The Last Resort and Godzilla x Kong: Supernova before his death.

Yvonne Strahovski Plays A Queen As Lydia Peckham's Role Stays Under Wraps

Deadline also reports that Yvonne Strahovski and Lydia Peckham have joined the movie, but neither has a fully identified role.

Deadline's sources say Strahovski plays a queen character, but the specific character hasn't been identified. Strahovski is known for her Emmy-nominated performance as Serena Joy Waterford in The Handmaid's Tale.

Peckham's role remains undisclosed. The New Zealand actress previously worked with director Wes Ball on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Her recent work also includes Nuremberg, Robin Hood and The Wrecking Crew.

Production on The Legend of Zelda wrapped in April 2026, with Ball directing from a screenplay draft by T.S. Nowlin. Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad are producing, while Sony is distributing the movie and co-financing it with Nintendo.

The reports substantially expand the known cast after Nintendo had publicly announced only Ainsworth and Bragason as Link and Zelda. The Legend of Zelda is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on April 30, 2027.
