ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition has launched on Nintendo Switch 2, bringing FromSoftware’s open-world action RPG to a Nintendo platform for the first time. The new edition includes ELDEN RING, ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree, and the new Tarnished Edition content.
We covered the August 28 release in the August 27 Nintendo Download, but the launch also brings new content to people who already own ELDEN RING elsewhere. The Tarnished Pack is releasing August 28 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, XBOX One, XBOX Series X|S, and Steam.
ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition Includes Shadow of the Erdtree
ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition bundles the original game with Shadow of the Erdtree and the new Tarnished Edition content. Shadow of the Erdtree adds the Realm of Shadow, expanding the main game with a separate area and story.
Nintendo Switch 2 owners can play in docked or handheld mode. The Tarnished Edition content is included by default, so you don’t need to purchase the Tarnished Pack separately with this edition.
Tarnished Pack Adds Two New Starting Classes and More
The Tarnished Pack introduces two new starting classes, Heavy Knight and Idus Knight. It also adds new weapons and four armour sets, including the two sets used by the new starting classes. Both classes can be selected during character creation, and their equipment can also be purchased from merchants or found in the game.
Patch 1.17 also adds two NPC invasion events, one in Caelid and another in Leyndell, Royal Capital. These additions are part of the Tarnished Pack rather than the balance adjustments included with Patch 1.17.
Torrent also gets three new appearance options. They’re called Funereal Night Spectral Steed Attire, Tree Sentinel Spectral Steed Attire, and Silver of Caria Spectral Steed Attire. Funereal Night is found in Altus Plateau, Tree Sentinel in Stormveil Castle, and Silver of Caria in Liurnia of the Lakes. Once you find one, you can change Torrent’s appearance from a Site of Grace.
For existing ELDEN RING owners, the Tarnished Pack supports PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, XBOX One, XBOX Series X|S, and Steam. Bandai Namco lists the PlayStation and XBOX release for midnight local time on August 28, while the Steam release is set for 3 p.m. PDT. Patch 1.17 is required to use the new content online.
