EA Sports Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition launches on Apple Arcade on August 6, bringing one of gaming’s biggest sports franchises to iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro. Apple is putting plenty of attention behind the upcoming release and positioning Madden as the centrepiece of its growing sports lineup.
This all-new Madden release was designed specifically for Apple Arcade. It includes current NFL teams, realistic simulation gameplay, Franchise and Quick Play modes, and dynamic ratings based on real NFL performances. Everything is included with an Apple Arcade subscription, with no ads, in-app purchases, currencies, or paywalls.
Apple Arcade is $8.99 CAD per month, and new subscribers can start with a one-month free trial before Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition launches.
Launching Madden just before the new NFL season gives Apple Arcade one of its most recognizable additions yet and a game that could reach beyond its usual audience.
Franchise Mode Covers An Entire NFL Season
Franchise mode puts you in control as a general manager, with decisions affecting your team throughout the season. Weekly storylines can change the direction of a season, while decisions away from the field affect team finances and fan support. The goal is to guide your chosen NFL team through the season and into championship contention.
Seasons and Playoffs keep the focus on playing games and moving toward a championship. Quick Play, Offline Exhibition, and Play Now offer faster ways onto the field without managing an entire season.
Madden Supports Touch And Controller Play
Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition uses streamlined touch controls designed for mobile devices, but compatible controllers are also supported. The game supports PlayStation, XBOX, and MFi controllers, while Apple confirms controller support across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition will also support Apple Vision Pro, with progress carrying across compatible Apple devices. You can manage a season on iPhone before continuing on Mac or Apple TV.
That flexibility is one of the parts I find most interesting. Madden is a natural fit for playing on a television, but having the same season available on a phone or tablet could make it much easier to fit games into shorter stretches of time.
Apple Arcade Expands Its Football Lineup
Madden isn’t arriving alone. Retro Bowl College+ also joins Apple Arcade on August 6 with 250 college teams, while NFL Retro Bowl ’27 follows on September 3 with a new Gauntlet Mode centred on completing a 15-game winning streak.
Those games broaden Apple Arcade’s football selection, but Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition is clearly the main attraction. Apple is giving the launch its own major push, and bringing the Madden name to the service could introduce Apple Arcade to football fans who haven’t paid much attention to it before.
Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition launches on Apple Arcade on August 6, 2026. Its App Store page is live now ahead of release.
