Genshin Impact Version Luna VIII launches July 1, 2026, with Sandrone returning as a 5-star Cryo Claymore character and the Frost Moon opening as a permanent new area beyond Teyvat. Sandrone is back, but Version Luna VIII doesn’t stop at a new character banner. The Frost Moon becomes a permanent area, and Stellar-Conduct adds a new Cryo-Electro reaction to the update.

Beyond Sandrone and the Frost Moon, Version Luna VIII heads back to Fontaine for the Fontinalia Film Festival, a free Charlotte invite and outfit, summer changes for Miliastra Wonderland, and a teaser for the annual expansion on August 12.

Sandrone Returns With Stellar-Conduct

Sandrone returns after sacrificing herself in Nod-Krai, and Version Luna VIII starts getting into what brought her back. Her combat also introduces Stellar-Conduct, a new Cryo-Electro reaction that creates a Polestar Field when certain Cryo and Electro characters trigger it.

The Polestar Field raises Stellar-Conduct DMG, Cryo DMG, and Electro DMG for characters inside its range. It also lowers opponents’ Physical RES. Some existing Cryo and Electro characters receive their own enhancements inside the field, though the full list has not been named yet.

Sandrone commands Fagio, an autonomous construct that attacks with each Charged Attack and builds Decoding Power. When Fagio reaches its firing limit, its attacks slow down. Sandrone’s Elemental Skill lets her move through the Polestar Field, fire at opponents, and lower Decoding Power before Fagio overloads. Her Elemental Burst adds artillery fire, with beam damage inside the field counting as Stellar-Conduct DMG.

The Frost Moon Becomes A Permanent New Area

The Frost Moon becomes a permanent new area beyond Teyvat, with ancient ruins connected to the dragon race, a space station looking back toward the planet, and a lunar sea waiting beyond the main paths.

An ancient force across the surface lets you manipulate local gravity as you move through the area. Version Luna VIII also adds a layered map display that shows your current level in real time across both the Frost Moon and Teyvat.

First-Half Wishes Pair Sandrone With Citlali

The first half of Version Luna VIII features Sandrone’s debut alongside Citlali’s rerun. Columbina and Raiden Shogun return in the second half, so anyone saving wishes for either character has a longer wait ahead.

Fontinalia Film Festival Lets You Invite Charlotte

The Fontinalia Film Festival takes place aboard the Wingalet in Fontaine, where Charlotte, Citlali, Sandrone, Columbina, and other returning characters gather for the summer event.

Part of the festival has you looking after the Wingalet’s aquarium and bringing more visitors aboard. Finish the event and you can invite Charlotte to your party for free, along with her new outfit.

The event story remains available after the festival. HoYoverse hasn’t confirmed every requirement tied to the rewards yet. Citlali also receives a new outfit at a limited-time discount.

Miliastra Wonderland Adds Summer Outfits And Rewards

Miliastra Wonderland receives a summer-themed lobby, summer outfits, activities, Prismatic Crystals, and an elegant 4-star set. The Editor also receives upgrades and new environment assets for Craftspeople.

Version Luna VIII arrives July 1 on PlayStation 5, XBOX, PC, Android, and iOS. You can spend your wishes on Sandrone and Citlali right away, or wait for the second half and start exploring the Frost Moon in the meantime. The next annual expansion follows August 12.
