| Explore the highs and lows of teenage life in Mixtape, available today on the Nintendo Switch 2. |
By Jon Scarr
It's Thursday, and that means we have a brand-new batch of games to explore on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Download for May 7, 2026 brings a heavy dose of nostalgia and adventure. We have a major new story-driven adventure launching today, May 7, 2026, alongside pre-orders opening for one of the biggest action games of the year. Whether you want a coming-of-age story or a globe-trotting treasure hunt, this week has a lot to offer.
May is proving to be a busy month. I have always been a sucker for games that focus heavily on their soundtracks, so seeing a music-driven game take the lead this week is a win. Let's dig into the biggest additions hitting your consoles.
Relive the Glory Days in Mixtape
My top pick this week is Mixtape, and it is available today, May 7, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2. This is an adventure focusing on three friends who are exploring the greatest hits of their teenage years. The story moves from their first kiss to their last school dance, pulling inspiration directly from classic coming-of-age movies.
The game comes from the developers behind the BAFTA award-winning The Artful Escape, which tells you exactly what kind of pedigree we are looking at here. You can expect an eclectic mix of gameplay tied directly to a massive licensed soundtrack. Instead of traditional combat or platforming, the gameplay shifts to match the highs and lows of adolescence.
I played through The Artful Escape a few years ago. The way that game used music to drive the pacing was incredible. If Mixtape manages to capture even half of that magic on the Nintendo Switch 2, it's going to be a must-play. It's a great pick if you want a game where the audio does the work for the emotional beats.
Pre-Order Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
If you prefer your weekend gaming to be a bit more dangerous, pre-orders for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are officially live. The game launches on May 12, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2. The story is set directly between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.
You take on the role of Indy, using his iconic whip and your own wits to battle sinister forces. The campaign takes you across the globe, starting in the halls of Marshall College and eventually leading to the sunken temples of Sukhothai. The goal is to unlock the secrets of the Great Circle before the opposition gets there first.
Having a massive, first-person action game like this hit the Nintendo Switch 2 is a great showcase for the console's third-party support. The perspective is going to make solving those ancient puzzles feel incredibly tactile. I highly recommend locking in your pre-order if you want to preload the game before the Tuesday launch.
Live Events for Pokémon Pokopia and Donkey Kong Bananza
On the live-service side of things, Pokémon Pokopia is running a new event called Sableye's Gem Hunt. Sableye is appearing near rebuilt Pokémon Centers until May 14, 2026, at 4:59 a.m. local time. If you befriend the Pokémon, you receive a request to travel to Dream Islands and collect red crystal fragments. You can exchange those fragments for themed building kits and furniture. Even after the deadline, Sableye will stay in your town permanently.
If you own Donkey Kong Bananza and the DK Island + Emerald Rush paid DLC, there is a new monthly event kicking off soon. The Rattlin' Snake Banaza event runs from May 12, 2026, at 1 a.m. PT to May 19, 2026, at 12:59 p.m. PT. You go spelunking into the glowing depths of the Radiance Layer to hunt down statues of Snake Bananza and Rattly.

Wrapping Up the Nintendo Download for May 7, 2026
May is already shaping up to be a packed month. Between the teenage nostalgia of Mixtape and the globe-trotting action of Indiana Jones, there is a lot to dig into this week.
If you are looking for something a bit more under the radar, I highly recommend checking out KILL IT WITH FIRE! 2. It's a hilarious action game where you hunt down spiders using increasingly ridiculous weapons. You're constantly escalating the destruction, tearing apart entire rooms with frying pans and flamethrowers just to exterminate a single bug. The escalation is an absolute trip. It's the kind of game that is perfect for those short handheld bursts where you just want to turn your brain off and blast through a low-stress run.
And let's not forget the massive news that dropped yesterday. A new Star Fox game was highly anticipated and heavily rumoured. And via an unannounced Star Fox Direct we got a surprise announcement of the new game and official Star Fox Nintendo Switch 2 release date Whether you're pre-ordering Indy or just grinding for those Pokémon Pokopia rewards, make sure you lock in those crystal fragments before the deadline on May 14, 2026.

There’s a game on this list that caught my eye called gas station manager.
