| It's time for some physics-powered 1v3 brawling in Bandit Trap on the Nintendo Switch 2. |
By Jon Scarr
It's Thursday, and that means we have a brand-new batch of digital arrivals to explore on the Nintendo eShop. This week's Nintendo Download brings plenty of action to the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2.
We have a physics-powered multiplayer brawler launching today and a massive event for Tetris 99 starts on May 1, 2026. Whether you're looking for a new way to ruin friendships or some classic Mario tunes for your commute, this week has a little bit of everything.
Look, May is almost here and the releases are starting to bloom. I've always been a sucker for slapstick physics, so seeing a new multiplayer brawler take the top spot is a win in my book. I love games where the environment is just as much of a threat as the other bandits. Let's dig into the biggest additions hitting your consoles.
Protect the Vault in Bandit Trap
The top pick this week is Bandit Trap, and it is available on April 30, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2. This is a 1v3 online brawler where the physics-powered engine is the real star. One of you acts as the homeowner, using over-engineered traps to protect the loot. The other three act as the bandits trying to break in. It's a mix of strategy and total mayhem.
The way the game works is all about the slapstick. Traps aren't just buttons you press: they interact with the environment. If you time a spring-loaded floor right, you can send a bandit flying into their own teammate. I once saw a trap chain-reaction clear an entire room because one bandit bumped into a physics object at the wrong time.
Because it is physics-powered, no two matches ever go the same way. It is a great pick if you have a group of friends who love games like Gang Beasts or Moving Out.

Star Wars Monopoly and New Music
If you prefer your friendship-ending games to be a bit more galactic, Monopoly: Star Wars: Heroes vs. Villains is now up for pre-order. It launches on June 10, 2026, for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. You build a roster of iconic characters and battle for control of the galaxy across different planets. If you pre-order now, you'll unlock two unique dice skins: the Jawa and the Clone Trooper.
On the audio side, the Nintendo Music app is getting some love. You can now stream tracks from Mario Tennis Aces, including "Marina Stadium" and "Bask Ruins." There's also a new track from Super Mario Galaxy 2 available on the app starting on April 30, 2026. It is a solid update for anyone who needs that high-energy Nintendo energy while they're working or at the gym.
Tomodachi Life Moves Into Tetris 99
The 53rd Maximus Cup for Tetris 99 starts on May 1, 2026, at 12 a.m. PT. This time, the event features a theme based on Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. If you're a Nintendo Switch Online member, you can jump into the online mode to start earning points. Once you collect 100 event points, you'll unlock a permanent in-game theme that includes custom art, music, and Tetrimino designs.
If you want to finish the event quickly, focus on your placement rather than just trying to K.O. everyone. You don't need to win every match to get the theme, but finishing in the top 10 nets you significantly more points than a quick exit. The event runs until May 4, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT, so you have a whole weekend to lock in those rewards.

Wrapping Up the Nintendo Download for April 30, 2026
The April 30, 2026 update feels like the perfect bridge into the warmer months. It is great to see the Nintendo Switch still getting a massive flood of indies. The Nintendo Switch 2 is also picking up those technically demanding multiplayer additions that need a bit more power under the hood. Between the slapstick physics of Bandit Trap and the Tomodachi Life nostalgia in Tetris 99, there is a lot of personality in the Nintendo eShop this week.
If you're looking for something outside the main arrivals, I highly recommend checking out MULLET MADJACK. It is a fast-paced action game that looks like an 80s anime come to life, but plays like a relentless adrenaline rush. You're constantly fighting against a 10-second timer, so you've to stay moving and keep your K.O. streak going to keep the clock from hitting zero. The speed is intense. It's the kind of game that is perfect for those short handheld bursts where you just want to turn your brain off and blast through a high-speed arcade experience.
Whether you're pre-ordering Star Wars Monopoly or just grinding for that new Tetris theme, May is looking bright. Don't forget that the Maximus Cup event ends on May 4, 2026, so make sure you lock in those 100 points before the deadline. This week really delivers on the variety, giving us everything from retro sports tunes to cyberpunk quests.
