Steam's taking us back to a time of knights and castles with the launch of the Steam Medieval Fest 2026. Starting April 20, 2026, at 10 a.m. PT, you'll find a huge collection of discounts and demos. This event runs through April 27, 2026, so you've got a full week to track down new favourites for your library.

This event arrives right after the Steam Hidden Object Fest event earlier this month. While that fest focused on observation, this one's all about grand strategy and first-person combat. It continues the trend of themed discounts that started with the massive seasonal price cuts in March.

Steam Medieval Fest 2026 Challenges You to a Virtual Duel

The core of this event is about the diversity of the medieval experience. You'll find everything from mercenary sims to cozy tavern management games.

One of the biggest draws this year is Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. It’s hard to believe this large RPG's already been out for over a year. If you haven't played it yet, this sale is the perfect time to start your journey as Henry. The game's level of detail makes you feel like you've actually stepped back into 15th-century Bohemia. I spent more time than I'd like to admit managing my first tavern in Travellers Rest.

Medieval Games Lead the Pack with Deep Discounts

The official trailer shows off a huge lineup of games. You'll see price drops for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord and the tactical mercenary sim Wartales. Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord just received a significant update earlier this month. The developers reworked the AI armies and diplomacy features. This sale makes it easier than ever to jump in and start your own kingdom.

Other games involved include the colony builder Foundation and the survival game Medieval Dynasty. If you prefer direct combat, both Chivalry 2 and MORDHAU are part of the festivities. These games offer some of the best first-person sword fighting on the platform. It's a great mix of genres that shows "medieval" means more than just one thing. This follows the pattern of other mystery-themed genre events we've tracked this year.

Free Demos Help You Build a Medieval Dynasty

Valve is continuing the strategy of providing free demos alongside the discounts. You'll find dozens of trials for upcoming and current medieval games. This allows you to test out a game's combat or building features before you spend your gold. It’s a smart move that helps smaller indie games get some attention during a busy sale week.

If you enjoy management games, you should check out Travellers Rest. It lets you run your own fantasy tavern and build a community. The game has been in early access for a while and continues to get better with every update. These trials are available throughout the week, so you should download a few to see what fits your playstyle. This builds on the momentum from our look at the tower defence genre spotlight last month.

Valve Continues the Trend of Genre Specific Spotlights

This fest isn't just about the deals. Valve is updating the store page with custom categories like "City Builder," "Grand Strategy," and "Open World RPG." This level of organisation makes it easy to find exactly what you want. It shows that Steam understands how much fans appreciate curated lists that cater to their specific interests.

Many games in the Steam Medieval Fest 2026 focus on low-stress environments and relaxing soundtracks. These games often include hand-drawn art and a nice change of pace from high-stakes action titles. Make sure you head over to the store page before the event ends on April 27, 2026. You'll want to sharpen your trusty sword and clear some space in your schedule. With so many discounts and demos available, your library's about to get a lot more crowded.
