| Updated Bee Mario and Boo Mario plushes from Sanei bring two Super Mario Galaxy power-ups back with refreshed materials and slightly larger designs. |
By Jon Scarr
Sanei has confirmed that updated Boo Mario and Bee Mario plushes based on Super Mario Galaxy are on the way, with a release planned for late May in Japan. The news was shared through Sanei’s official channels and confirms that these plushes are updated takes on designs that originally released alongside Super Mario Galaxy.
Both plushes are based on Mario’s Boo and Bee transformations from Super Mario Galaxy. While the designs closely resemble earlier releases, Sanei says the new versions have been reworked using softer materials, with the goal of making them more comfortable to handle and display. The company also notes that the overall feel of the plushes has been adjusted compared to previous editions.
The timing lines up with Super Mario Galaxy being back in the spotlight. The game returned to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 recently, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to arrive in theatres on April 1, 2026. While Sanei hasn’t directly tied the plushes to the film, the release window suggests they’re meant to coincide with renewed interest in the Galaxy side of the Mario series.

Plush Details, Pricing, and Availability
According to listings now live on Mecha Japan, both plushes are available for pre-order, with prices set at $20.21 CAD each. Bee Mario measures approximately 18.5 cm tall, while Boo Mario comes in slightly shorter at around 17 cm. Both are scheduled to ship by May 31, 2026, based on current retailer information.
Sanei previously released a full set of Super Mario Galaxy transformation plushes in 2007, including standard Mario, Fire Mario, Boo Mario, and Bee Mario. Those earlier versions were smaller and used different materials, making these updated releases more of a refresh than a straight reissue.
For now, the plushes are confirmed for Japan, with no word on wider international distribution. As with many Sanei releases, import retailers are expected to carry them for fans outside the region once launch approaches.
