| Bubly’s Meteor Melon, Cosmic Swirl, and Dragonfruit Stardust cans bring The Super Mario Galaxy Movie tie-in to the sparkling water aisle. |
By Jon Scarr
PepsiCo is bringing Mario into the sparkling water aisle. To celebrate Illumination and Nintendo’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Bubly sparkling water is rolling out limited flavours and character cans ahead of the film’s theatrical launch on April 1, 2026.
Bubly Cans Line Up With The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
Back in January, Cosmic Swirl started showing up early through grocery listings, hinting that a bigger Bubly tie-in was on the way. That early sighting now makes more sense, as PepsiCo confirms the full campaign around that flavour and introduces two more movie-inspired options, character art on core flavours, and a space-themed promotion built around Star Bits and a trip to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
For now, everything PepsiCo has announced is for the United States only, with Canadian plans still unconfirmed. It at least lays out the template for the partnership: three themed flavours, colour-change Luma cans, character art on core flavours, and a Galaxy giveaway built around Star Bits and a trip to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
Three Limited Bubly Flavours Built Around The Movie
The collaboration centres on three limited-time flavours tied directly to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie:
- Meteor Melon – watermelon lime
- Cosmic Swirl – vanilla berry
- Dragonfruit Stardust – pineapple dragonfruit
Each one comes in cans that feature Lumas from the Super Mario universe. Once the cans are chilled, the Lumas change colour. It gives the packs more of a collectible feel and lines them up with other movie merchandise hitting shelves this year.
These flavours are rolling out in the U.S. now for a limited time, with stock depending on local retailers.
Mario And Friends On Classic Bubly Flavours
Alongside the new flavours, Bubly is updating some of its existing lineup with movie branding. Select packs of Lime, Blackberry, Cherry, Grapefruit, and Strawberry are getting character art based on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Toad, and Bowser Jr. all appear across different packs. That turns standard cases into tie-in items that sit beside cereal, personal care products, and toys tied to the film.
These character packs are confirmed for U.S. retailers. Distribution in other regions has not been detailed yet.

Galactic Mission Giveaway And Star Bits Promo
Bubly is also running a promotion themed around Rosalina and the Galaxy setting:
- Hidden Rosalina cans: Select movie-branded 8-packs include special Bubly Galaxy Cans that feature Rosalina. Finding one of these rare cans unlocks the top prize in the promotion.
- Galaxy Getaway trip: The grand prize is an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the NASA Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Merritt, Florida. It ties the drink promo directly into real-world space tourism.
- Star Bits collection: Every movie-themed can has a scannable element that adds a random number of Star Bits to an account, from 1 up to 5,000. Those Star Bits can be redeemed for rewards that include movie tickets and limited Bubly merchandise.
- Theatre promotion tie-in: There is a separate in-theatre entry option running at select Regal and Marcus locations in the U.S. for people seeing The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on the big screen.
The main promotion window in the U.S. goes from early March through May 8, 2026, with full rules and no-purchase-necessary details listed on the official Bubly Galactic Mission sites.
Canada’s Place In Bubly’s Galaxy Campaign
The Bubly and Super Mario Galaxy partnership is still officially a U.S. rollout, with no Canadian details yet. Cosmic Swirl first appeared in a U.S. grocery listing in January, and this update confirms that it joins Meteor Melon, Dragonfruit Stardust, colour-change Luma cans, and character packs in a complete Galaxy lineup.
The open question is how much of this package will appear in Canadian stores and whether there will be a Canada-specific version of the Galactic Mission promotion. Bubly already has strong placement in Canadian grocery chains, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is lined up as one of Nintendo’s biggest pushes this spring. It would make sense for at least some of these items and promos to cross the border.
Until that piece is confirmed, the U.S. campaign gives us a clear preview of what to watch for on local shelves. Meteor Melon, Cosmic Swirl, and Dragonfruit Stardust cans with Lumas that change colour in the fridge are one part. Mario and friends showing up across Lime, Blackberry, Cherry, Grapefruit, and Strawberry cases as the movie’s marketing build-up continues is the other.
