Sandfall Interactive has taken home the Game of the Year award at The Game Awards 2025 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. To mark the moment and thank the community for its support, the studio and publisher Kepler Interactive have released a free major update for the reactive turn based RPG. The update is available now across all platforms and regions and adds new content, features, and improvements.

The announcement follows a strong night for Expedition 33, which also won Best Game Direction and Best Narrative at the show. The game was nominated across 12 categories in total, making it one of the most recognized titles of the event.

A New Storybook Environment and Late Game Challenges

The headline addition in the update is a brand new playable environment called Verso’s Drafts. This new area takes the characters of Expedition 33 into a storybook setting tied to a younger version of Verso. Players will encounter celebratory Gestrals, new locations, and a darker presence that hints at something more dangerous beneath the surface.

Late game players also receive new challenges within the Endless Tower. The update introduces additional boss encounters designed to test experienced builds. Defeating these powerful enemies rewards new Pictos, costumes, and gear, giving endgame progression more reasons to return.

Photo Mode, Music, and Expanded Language Support

One of the most requested features from the community, an official Photo Mode, has been added with this update. Players can now pause the action and capture moments from the story, environments, and battles throughout the game.

The update also includes new music tracks composed by Lorien Testard, whose work on Expedition 33’s soundtrack earned wide praise. These new tracks are now available on digital music streaming platforms as well.

Sandfall Interactive has also expanded the game’s language support. New text and UI localizations have been added for Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian. This brings the total number of supported languages to 19.

Performance Improvements and Technical Updates

On the technical side, the update adds FSR 4 support, including AMD temporal upscaling and frame generation for smoother performance on supported GPUs. Additional quality of life improvements and performance optimizations have been rolled out across all platforms, including handheld PC systems.

With its Game of the Year win and a substantial free update now live, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continues to build momentum beyond its launch. Sandfall Interactive has framed the update as a direct thank you to the community, and it delivers meaningful additions rather than small cosmetic extras.
