Hasbro has officially opened Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc. in downtown Montréal, creating a new hub for Dungeons & Dragons and digital games. The 35,518-square-foot studio is planned to grow to approximately 200 employees by 2028.

The opening follows Hasbro’s original Montréal expansion announcement from September 2025. The new operation will work alongside Invoke Studios, which has been part of Wizards of the Coast since 2019. Together, the two operations expand Wizards of the Coast’s video game presence in the city.

New Montréal Studio Will Work on D&D and Digital Games

Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc. brings together teams working across game development and other areas within the organization. The Montréal hub will develop new Dungeons & Dragons content and support Wizards of the Coast’s broader digital games portfolio.

Hasbro marked the opening with an event for employees, partners, media and local officials. The 35,518-square-foot downtown office also includes a dedicated gaming lounge for employees.

Dan Ayoub, Hasbro’s Senior Vice President and Head of Dungeons & Dragons, also heads Wizards of the Coast Canada. He began his games career in Montréal nearly 30 years ago.

Studio Plans to Grow to Around 200 Employees by 2028

Hasbro plans for the Montréal studio to grow to approximately 200 employees by 2028. Hasbro also expects the expansion to create hundreds of new jobs in Montréal’s gaming sector.

Ayoub expects the Montréal operation to become Hasbro’s biggest concentration of video game talent. He has cited the city’s game-development ecosystem and talent as reasons for expanding there.

When the expansion was announced in 2025, Montréal International described Greater Montréal as home to more than 250 studios and 15,000 game-industry professionals. Montréal International and Investissement Québec International supported the project.

Wizards Builds on Its Existing Montréal Presence

Wizards of the Coast’s Montréal footprint dates back to its 2019 acquisition of Invoke Studios. Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc. now operates alongside that existing Montréal-based team.

When Hasbro announced the expansion in September 2025, it expected the studio to open during summer 2026. The project was already centred on Dungeons & Dragons content and digital games, with roughly 200 jobs expected over the following three years.

The studio officially opened on October 8. Hasbro plans to continue growing the Montréal operation through 2028.
