Stouffville, Ontario-based EPX Games is bringing its 2012 horror game back as Night Whisper Lane: Anniversary Edition. Founder and developer Emanouel Pontikakis is preparing the standalone remaster for Windows PC through Steam, marking the game's first PC release. A launch date hasn't been announced.

Pontikakis created the original for mobile devices 14 years ago. The new version keeps its first-person exploration, puzzles and turn-based boss fights, with changes to combat, navigation and visuals.

Night Whisper Lane Returns With Reworked Combat

Night Whisper Lane takes place inside a house full of traps. You'll search rooms, examine objects and solve puzzles to find a way forward. But interacting with the wrong thing can get you killed, so even a simple search can be dangerous.

Exploration is only part of the game. You'll also face Sofia in turn-based boss battles. For the Anniversary Edition, Pontikakis has rebuilt those fights with first-person weapon attacks, combos and visible injuries during combat.

The remaster also changes how the house looks and how you navigate it. It includes a pager as well, although Pontikakis hasn't explained what it does yet.

Night Whisper Lane Makes the Jump From Mobile to PC

The original Night Whisper Lane debuted on iOS in 2012, followed by an Android version on January 1, 2013. Its first-person view, trap-filled rooms and turn-based fights were part of the mobile release from the beginning.

You couldn't go through the house examining everything without consequences. Some objects concealed deadly traps, but searching was how you found keys and supplies. Weapons were limited, and bandages or first-aid kits could help you survive an encounter. The original also had more than one ending and passages to discover along the way.

EPX Games continued updating Night Whisper Lane after launch. In January 2013, it released Boss Rush mode, which sent you through consecutive fights. Between rounds, you'd receive more health and weapons to help with the next battle. Combat was part of the game well before Pontikakis started rebuilding it for PC.

Now Pontikakis is returning to his first commercial horror game after 14 years. He's bringing it to Windows PC with new combat features and other changes made for the platform. EPX Games hasn't announced a Steam release date yet, but you can watch the announcement trailer below.
