Nintendo has announced two Direct presentations for next week. The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct starts Tuesday, September 8 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET. It runs for roughly 30 minutes and marks the series' 40th anniversary.
Nintendo Direct 9.9.2026 is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9 at the same time. It runs for roughly 45 minutes and focuses on Nintendo Switch 2 games launching this winter. Afterward, Nintendo Treehouse: Live September 2026 will run for about 110 minutes with gameplay from select games shown during the Direct.
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct Airs September 8
Nintendo hasn't said exactly what it plans to show during The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct. The 30-minute presentation will focus on the series' 40th anniversary. No specific games, products, or anniversary releases have been announced.
There is already one confirmed Zelda release on Nintendo Switch 2 for later this year. Back in June, Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 later in 2026. Nintendo hasn't connected Ocarina of Time to the September 8 Direct, so I wouldn't read more into that yet.
Nintendo Direct 9.9.2026 Focuses on Winter Nintendo Switch 2 Games
Nintendo Direct 9.9.2026 starts the next morning. Its roughly 45 minutes will focus on Nintendo Switch 2 games launching this winter. Nintendo hasn't previewed the lineup, so anything beyond that would be guesswork.
The stream begins September 9 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET. You can watch through Nintendo Today!, YouTube, and Twitch. If you're mainly interested in what's coming next for Nintendo Switch 2, this is the presentation to watch.
Nintendo Treehouse Follows With 110 Minutes of Gameplay
After the Direct, Nintendo Treehouse takes over for roughly 110 minutes. The broadcast will feature gameplay from select games shown during the presentation. Nintendo hasn't named the Treehouse lineup yet.
The Treehouse broadcast is more than twice as long as the Direct itself. Between the 45-minute Direct and Nintendo Treehouse, Nintendo has more than two and a half hours of Nintendo Switch 2 programming scheduled for September 9.
