The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is returning to 4D theatres in Japan beginning September 25, 2026. The new run will include MX4D, 4DX, and ULTRA4DX screenings, with attendees at eligible showings also receiving a special clear stand while supplies last.
The September return follows the movie's earlier 4D rollout in Japan, which expanded to 71 theatres in late June. The official movie site is directing moviegoers to a dedicated theatre schedule for the locations taking part in the new run.
4D Screenings Return September 25
The official announcement describes the September screenings as a 4D revival. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie previously expanded into 4D theatres across Japan beginning June 26 or June 27, depending on the location, with 71 theatres included in that rollout.
That earlier June announcement listed MX4D and 4DX screenings. For the September 25 return, the new announcement specifically includes MX4D, 4DX, and ULTRA4DX showings.
The movie's official theatre page lists its Japanese theatrical release date as April 24, 2026. Nearly five months later, the September revival adds another round of 4D screenings.
The official movie site does not give a new theatre count for the September run. Instead, it links to a dedicated theatre schedule where moviegoers can check participating locations and screening information. The schedule can change, so the theatre page advises audiences to confirm details with the cinema before attending.
A Special Clear Stand Comes With Eligible Screenings
The September 25 revival also introduces a 4D-exclusive admission gift. Anyone attending an eligible MX4D, 4DX, or ULTRA4DX screening can receive a special Super Mario Galaxy Movie clear stand while supplies last.
Distribution is limited to one clear stand per person for each eligible screening. The official announcement also states that the item is not for sale and is not a ticket-purchase bonus. Moviegoers must actually enter the screening to receive it.
The giveaway begins alongside the 4D revival on September 25. No separate end date is listed, with distribution continuing only while supplies remain.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has already had several theatre promotions in Japan during its run, including earlier admission gifts. This new clear stand is specifically tied to the returning 4D screenings rather than general admission.
