Monster Hunter Wilds Launches Dec. 4 on Nintendo Switch 2

By Jon Scarr

Capcom has announced Monster Hunter Wilds launches December 4 on Nintendo Switch 2. The release includes the Title Update content already added to the game, along with local wireless support and full cross-play for online hunts.

Digital pre-orders begin October 19, and Capcom is planning a free Prologue Demo before launch. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.

Nintendo Switch 2 Gets the Existing Title Update Content

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds includes the post-launch content released so far. Capcom specifically lists the Grand Hub, Lagiacrus and the Final Fantasy XIV Online collaboration among the additions.

The core game sends your Expedition Team into the Forbidden Lands in search of the White Wraith. All 14 weapon types are available, with materials gathered during hunts used to craft stronger gear.

Local wireless lets Nintendo Switch 2 owners connect directly for hunts. Online multiplayer also supports full cross-play, keeping the Nintendo Switch 2 version connected with the wider online community.

Pre-Orders Start October 19 and a Prologue Demo Is Coming

Digital pre-orders open October 19. Capcom says the Standard Edition will receive an early-adopter discount through December 3, one day before launch.

A physical Deluxe Edition includes the base game with the Deluxe Pack cosmetic content. A digital Gold Edition also bundles the game with additional cosmetic DLC.

Capcom has not dated the free Prologue Demo yet, but it is scheduled to arrive before the December 4 launch.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Follows in 2027

Capcom also confirmed Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.

The Nintendo Direct only gave us a brief teaser, so most details are still being held back. There is no exact release date yet.

For now, the next dates to watch are October 19 for digital pre-orders and December 4 for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch.
