XBOX and IKEA have officially revealed YXSTABY, a nine-piece gaming furniture and accessories collection launching across Canada on October 1, 2026. The collection includes seating, storage, a mobile TV stand and several pieces inspired by the XBOX controller.
IKEA says YXSTABY is pronounced “YX-sta-bee.” When XBOX and IKEA first teased the collaboration, we could clearly see a green D-pad cushion and a giant thumbstick-shaped object. Now we know what both pieces are. The D-pad appears as both a cushion and a stainless-steel platter, while the thumbstick is a tilting stool.
The full reveal is more interesting than I expected from the teaser. IKEA and XBOX didn’t stop at novelty controller shapes. A lot of the collection focuses on how gaming gear actually fits into a living room, bedroom or shared space.
YXSTABY Turns XBOX Controller Designs Into Furniture
The controller-inspired pieces are easily the most fun part of YXSTABY. IKEA turned the D-pad into a soft cushion and a stainless-steel platter. There is also a mirrored display box that shows controllers, figures and other collectibles from several angles.
The thumbstick stool is the piece that stands out most to me. IKEA says it was developed using original XBOX controller 3D design files with help from XBOX device designers. Its textured seat borrows from the controller grip, and the stool tilts as you move while sitting on it.
That movement is what makes it more than a giant XBOX prop. IKEA took the feel of an analogue stick and turned it into something you can actually sit on. I’m genuinely curious to see how it feels in person.
Nine Pieces Cover Seating, Storage and Gaming Setups
The rest of YXSTABY is more practical, with pieces designed to keep gaming gear organized around the home. A gaming lounge chair includes storage underneath for controllers and other accessories.
YXSTABY also includes IKEA’s first mobile TV stand. It rolls between rooms and has storage at the back for gaming gear.
The portable storage toolbox keeps controllers, cables and other hardware together. Close the lid and it can double as a laptop stand, making it easier to set up at a dining table and pack everything away afterward.
There is also a rolling side table with storage behind sliding doors and space for charging devices. The monitor stand supports one or two screens and includes spots for a phone, headphones and controller.
IKEA says every piece was co-designed by one IKEA designer and one XBOX designer. Most of the range uses white, black and beige, with green accents around areas meant to hold gaming gear.
That mix of practical storage and obvious XBOX inspiration is what makes YXSTABY work for me. The controller references are there, but most of the pieces still look like something you could leave in a shared room without it feeling like a themed gaming set.
YXSTABY Launches Across IKEA Canada on October 1
IKEA Canada confirms YXSTABY will be available in stores across Canada and online starting October 1, 2026. That gives the collaboration a firm Canadian launch date after the initial August teaser.
Canadian pricing was not included in IKEA Canada’s announcement.
The full reveal answers what those controller-shaped pieces actually were, but it also makes the collection more appealing than the teaser suggested. The D-pad cushion and thumbstick stool will probably get the most attention, and I can already see why.
I’m also interested in the less flashy pieces, especially the mobile TV stand and storage options. If they work as well in person as they look on paper, YXSTABY could be a fun way to make a gaming setup feel more integrated into the rest of the room.
