The Wolf Among Us Remastered Launches October 29 With New Noir Mode

By Juli Scarr

The Wolf Among Us Remastered now has a release date. Telltale and PM Studios have confirmed the remaster launches digitally on October 29, 2026, alongside a new Noir Mode that turns Bigby Wolf's investigation black and white.

The remaster is coming to PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and XBOX One. The XBOX One version will also work on XBOX Series X|S through backward compatibility.

Physical editions will follow in Q1 2027.

Noir Mode Brings a New Look to Fabletown

Noir Mode is the biggest new addition announced for The Wolf Among Us Remastered.

The mode changes Fabletown, its characters, and Bigby's investigation into a black-and-white presentation inspired by classic film noir. It fits the detective story pretty naturally, especially given how much of the original game already draws from crime and noir fiction.

This is a presentation option rather than a different version of the story.

Bigby Wolf is still the Sheriff of Fabletown, a hidden community of fairy-tale characters living in 1980s Manhattan. His investigation into a murder remains the centre of the five-episode story.

You'll still investigate crime scenes, question suspects, and make choices that affect Bigby's relationships and how events unfold.

The Remaster Updates More Than the Visuals

Telltale and PM Studios are also updating the original game's presentation beyond Noir Mode.

The Wolf Among Us Remastered includes enhanced visuals, refined characters and environments, an updated user interface, upgraded animation and audio, higher resolutions, and smoother performance.

What isn't changing is just as important.

The choice-driven story, characters, and detective drama from the original game are being preserved. Telltale isn't rewriting Bigby's investigation or adding a replacement storyline for the remaster.

That makes this more of a modernized version of the original game than a reworking of it.

More Than an Hour of Bonus Content Is Included

The definitive edition also comes with more than an hour of bonus material focused on how the original The Wolf Among Us was made.

That includes cast interviews, behind-the-scenes material, and playable deleted scenes.

The deleted scenes are part of the bonus content rather than newly inserted sections of the main story. Anyone returning to the game is getting the same core five-episode investigation with additional material around it.

The October release also marks the first time The Wolf Among Us has appeared on a Nintendo platform. Telltale and PM Studios have announced Nintendo Switch specifically, not Nintendo Switch 2.

The XBOX situation is similarly specific. The announced version is for XBOX One, with XBOX Series X|S support coming through backward compatibility rather than a separate native Series X|S release.

The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches digitally on October 29, while physical copies are planned for Q1 2027.

Telltale also has The Wolf Among Us 2 lined up to continue Bigby Wolf's story in 2027. Before that arrives, the remaster is bringing his original investigation back with a new noir presentation and a sizeable collection of behind-the-scenes material.
