The LEGO Group has announced a refresh for LEGO Super Mario, bringing traditional LEGO minifigures into the range for the first time. Eight new sets launch on January 1, 2027, with Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi and other Mushroom Kingdom characters appearing in classic minifigure form.
The range was officially revealed at gamescom in Cologne and includes Mario Kart races, Bowser’s Castle and smaller character-focused builds. Pricing starts at $12.99 CAD in Canada and $9.99 USD in the U.S.
Traditional Minifigures Become the New LEGO Super Mario Focus
The LEGO Group and Nintendo launched the first interactive LEGO Super Mario building experiences in 2020. The 2027 range changes that familiar format by centring the new sets on traditional minifigure roleplay with Super Mario and Mario Kart characters, karts and locations.
Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser and Yoshi are all part of the range. Fire Mario and Fire Luigi also join the lineup, along with Bowser Jr., Koopa Troopa, Goomba and Toad.
Eight Sets Bring Mario Kart, Bowser’s Castle, Yoshi and More
Fire Mario & Bowser’s Castle (72060) is the largest set in the range at 850 pieces. It costs $129.99 CAD in Canada and $99.99 USD in the U.S. Fire Mario has to help Peach escape while Bowser, Koopa Troopa and Goomba defend the castle with lava balls and hidden traps.
Fire Luigi vs. Koopa Troopa Battle (72061) has 241 pieces and costs $39.99 CAD in Canada and $29.99 USD in the U.S. The build has Fire Luigi facing Koopa Troopa for control of a tower, with a cannon that launches Luigi toward it.
Bowser’s Rumbling Race (72058) is a 409-piece Mario Kart set priced at $79.99 CAD in Canada and $59.99 USD in the U.S. It includes the Bowser Bruiser, Toad in a Zoom Buggy, Goomba in a Biddybuggy and a brick-built Cow on the Tune Thumper.
Luigi & Bowser Jr.’s Race (72056) has 104 pieces and costs $39.99 CAD in Canada and $29.99 USD in the U.S. Luigi and Bowser Jr. each get a vehicle, with shell launchers, cones and a Banana forming part of the race.
Racing with Mario (72054) has 84 pieces and costs $19.99 CAD in Canada and $14.99 USD in the U.S. Mario gets his own kart with a built-in shell launcher, along with a cone and Banana to use as racing obstacles.
Yoshi at Mario’s House (72057) has 147 pieces and costs $54.99 CAD in Canada and $39.99 USD in the U.S. Mario’s house includes a garden, bedroom and kitchen, while a green slide connects its floors for Mario and Yoshi.
Mario’s Beach Adventures (72055) has 196 pieces and costs $27.99 CAD in Canada and $19.99 USD in the U.S. The beach scene includes Mario in swimming shorts, a refreshment stand, sun lounge and Sidestepper.
Mario’s Pipe Jump (72052) is the smallest set at 61 pieces. It costs $12.99 CAD in Canada and $9.99 USD in the U.S. Its pipe build includes a lever that can knock Goomba out of Mario’s way as he goes after a coin.
Where to Buy the New LEGO Super Mario Sets
All eight sets launch January 1, 2027. In Canada, they’ll be available through LEGO.ca, LEGO Stores and select retailers. In the U.S., they’ll be available through LEGO.com, LEGO Stores and select retailers.
For longtime LEGO Super Mario fans, January’s lineup should feel noticeably different once Mario and the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom finally arrive in traditional minifigure form.
