HoYoverse has unveiled Nodusfall, a new multi-mythology co-op action game, during gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live. The world premiere introduced a realistic fantasy setting shaped by mythological traditions from different cultures. It also put large co-op battles against legendary creatures at the centre of the first gameplay footage.
The new HoYoverse IP puts you in the role of a Weaver, a being shaped and enlightened by the divine. HoYoverse hasn't announced a release date or platforms yet. The first trailer combines gameplay with in-engine cinematics captured using Unreal Engine 5.
Co-Op Combat Puts Weavers Against Mythological Creatures
Nodusfall's co-op combat is built around squads fighting large mythological creatures. You can mix different Styles and Skills around each encounter, then work with the group to expose an enemy's weakness.
Defeating those creatures provides resources used to unlock new Skills and weapons. That connects the major encounters to progression instead of leaving them as isolated fights.
The first trailer gives a broad look at the combat across several environments. Weavers use different weapons and abilities while facing creatures that take up much of the battlefield. HoYoverse hasn't detailed the complete combat system yet.
Nodusfall Draws From Mythologies Across Different Cultures
HoYoverse is building Nodusfall around mythological traditions from different cultures instead of one mythology. The first look includes ancient beasts rooted in Eastern mythology and Western dragons presented as signs of calamity. HoYoverse says new regions will have their own ecology, culture and history.
The story centres on the mysterious Dreadnodi, whose arrival spread corruption across the land and twisted legendary creatures. Weavers descend into that broken world to confront those creatures and seize the remaining divinity. Their larger goal is to sever the Dreadnodi at their roots and restore order.
Rather than directly retelling one legend, Nodusfall uses those influences to build its own fantasy world. That leaves room for different mythological traditions while keeping the story centred on Nodusfall's own setting and conflict.
Launch Details Are Still Unannounced
Nodusfall remains in development, and HoYoverse hasn't announced a release date, release window or platform list. The trailer also notes that its Unreal Engine 5 footage doesn't represent the final product.
What HoYoverse showed was enough to get me excited about Nodusfall. The co-op combat, huge mythological creatures and more realistic fantasy look are all working for me so far. I’m especially interested in seeing how the combat develops and how the different mythologies shape the world.
