Bandai Namco is preparing a major overhaul for Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra, and this isn't a small balance update. The free-to-play 4v4 game will move away from its current top-down perspective in favour of a third-person, over-the-shoulder view as part of a larger redesign planned for later this year.
Before that happens, Season 7 begins September 9 with Super Gogeta joining the roster. The season celebrates the game's first anniversary while setting up much bigger changes to come.
Battles Are Moving Much Closer to the Action
The new camera is the biggest immediate change. Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra currently gives you a top-down view of the battlefield, but the Year-End Overhaul will move the camera behind your character.
Bandai Namco is also redesigning the rules around those battles. Win conditions will become simpler, although the 4v4 format will continue to revolve around working together and making strategic decisions during a match.
Hero abilities are changing too. The overhaul introduces new customisation options, including MAX Super Attacks that can replace an existing Super Attack.
There are still some important unanswered questions. Bandai Namco has not detailed everything about hero availability or how existing items and account data will carry into the redesigned version. More information is planned throughout the remainder of 2026.
Super Gogeta Arrives With Season 7
Season 7 launches September 9 and adds Super Gogeta as a new hero. Android 19 joins as a Helper for the Technical role, while San-Shinron becomes a new boss.
Bosses will begin rotating every two weeks during the season. The anniversary celebration also includes seven campaigns, with one offering up to 140 free G-Capsules across two periods.
Anniversary login rewards, Special Passes, the GEKISHIN Rules Play Campaign, and Lucky Box Battle are also planned. Later in the season, Bandai Namco has Halloween Skin Bundles, additional campaigns, and in-game tournaments on the roadmap.
What makes this update more interesting than the usual anniversary content is what comes after it. Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra launched around its top-down 4v4 combat, and Bandai Namco is now prepared to rethink that foundation only a year later.
Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC through Steam, iOS, and Android. Season 7 starts September 9, while the larger Year-End Overhaul is still waiting on an exact date.
