OPUS: Prism Peak brings narrative photography to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 this week.
By Jon Scarr

It's Thursday, and that means we've a new set of digital arrivals to explore on the eShop. The Nintendo Download for April 23, 2026 focuses on a mix of still storytelling and high-stakes baseball. We've a haunting new photography adventure in the Dusklands and a chance to take the field for free with a new trial.

Whether you're looking for a new narrative or some 16-bit music for your commute, this week's Nintendo Download has something for you. I've always found that the best Nintendo weeks are the ones that lean into a specific vibe.

This week's Nintendo Update is all about the calm moments of photography and the loud crack of a baseball bat. I've spent way too many hours chasing the perfect sunset in games, so OPUS: Prism Peak is the one I'm watching closely.

Capture the Dusklands in OPUS: Prism Peak

The newest entry in the OPUS series is finally here. OPUS: Prism Peak puts you in the shoes of a tired photographer stranded in a mysterious place called the Dusklands. You're traveling with a young girl who has lost her memories, and you use an old analog camera to find your way back home. This is a narrative photo adventure where the way you observe your surroundings actually reveals the secrets of the world.

The way the game works goes deep into the photography process. You need to manage how you line up your shots, your timing, exposure, and focus to get the right image. As you meet different spirits, your photos help you understand their desires and move the story forward. It's out now for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

MLB The Show 26 Game Trial Is Live

If you're a Nintendo Switch Online member, you can jump into MLB The Show 26 for free starting today. This isn't just a small demo. It's a full Game Trial that runs until April 29 at 11:59 p.m. PT. You get to keep all your save data if you decide to buy the full game later, so you don't have to worry about losing your progress on the diamond.

Participating in the trial also earns you 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points. If you like what you play, the game is 25% off during this trial period. It's a great way to see how the newest baseball sim performs on the Nintendo Switch 2 before you put any money down.

Super NES Music and Spotlight Sales

The Nintendo Music app just got a big update with the Super NES Selects playlists. You can now stream tracks from some of the best games on the 16-bit platform in one spot. It's a great nostalgia trip if you grew up with those sounds.

On the eShop side, the Spotlight Sale is running until April 29. There's a big selection of digital games on sale for both platforms. If you've been waiting for a price drop on some of the bigger indie games, this is the time to check your wishlist on your Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 or the official website.
