Silverbrook looks exactly like the playful, high-fantasy Albion I've been waiting for.

Just as the rumour mill started spinning up about a potential delay for the new Fable game, Xbox and Playground Games decided to clear the air.

Today, April 13, 2026, the official Fable account shared a new look at a village called Silverbrook, but the real news was tucked away in the replies. When asked about a release, the account confirmed that we can expect to head back to Albion in Autumn 2026.

Fable Official Release Window Ends Delay Rumours

This confirmation is a direct response to reports from industry insiders suggesting Microsoft was considering an internal push to December. The logic behind that rumoured move was simple: nobody wants to launch next to GTA VI.

Rockstar’s next massive open world game is currently set for November 19, 2026, and that date has the entire industry on edge. Fable sticking to an Autumn window means Xbox is confident enough to launch right in the middle of the most crowded season in years.

Silverbrook Look Offers Peek at Modern Albion

Silverbrook itself looks exactly like what I want from a modern Fable. The screenshot shows a character walking toward a thatched-roof house surrounded by lush greenery and flowers. It has that playful yet slightly off-kilter look that defined the original trilogy.

The tweet mentions the village produce, but hints that "something's definitely about" to happen, keeping that signature British humour clearly visible. We haven't had this much detail since the January spotlight on Fable earlier this year.

The Autumn 2026 Window Sets Up a Massive Clash

Launching an RPG of this scale in the same window as a GTA game is a gutsy move. Autumn technically covers everything from late September to late December, but in the gaming world, it usually means the October and November rush. If Fable hits in October, it gives fans about a month to finish their adventure before Los Santos takes over the conversation. If it lands closer to the November 19 date, we’re looking at a direct clash of the titans, which will likely be a highlight of the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 this June.

I've been waiting for a return to Albion since the Fable III days, and seeing the game finally get a firm release window feels like progress. We’ve seen enough CG trailers and brief gameplay clips to know the look is there, but now the pressure is on Playground Games to bring that specific RPG magic that made the original series so special. Make sure you're ready for the rest of 2026, because the back half of this year is looking absolutely packed.
