Xbox has confirmed its next Developer_Direct for January 22, kicking off the year with extended gameplay segments for three upcoming games. Rather than quick hits or trailers, the show is built around developers walking through their games and showing how they play.

This Developer_Direct includes two projects from Playground Games and a new action RPG from Game Freak. All three are expected to launch later this year or into 2026, making this one of the first chances to see how they’re shaping up in real gameplay.

Playground Games Appears Twice in the Showcase

Playground Games will have a major presence in this Developer_Direct, with two very different games featured back to back.

Fable Gameplay

Xbox is set to show extended gameplay from Fable, offering the clearest look yet at how Playground’s reboot plays.

The segment is expected to focus on Albion itself, showing combat, exploration, and how player choices affect the world. Familiar ideas like consequence-driven decisions and British humour are still part of the package, but presented through a modern RPG structure aimed at both returning fans and players new to the series.

This should help give a better sense of the game’s pace and tone, rather than just its concept.

Forza Horizon 6 Brings the Festival to Japan

Forza Horizon 6 heads to Japan, with Playground Games set to reveal new open-world driving during Developer_Direct.

Playground Games will also reveal gameplay for Forza Horizon 6, confirming Japan as the setting for the next Horizon entry.

The broadcast is expected to show open-world driving across a range of environments, along with new features coming to the series. With Horizon games relying heavily on how their worlds feel behind the wheel, this first gameplay showing will be an important one.

Extended Gameplay of Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation

The final focus of the show is Beast of Reincarnation, a new action RPG from Game Freak.

Set in a post-apocalyptic version of Japan, the game follows Emma and her canine companion, Koo. This Developer_Direct marks the first detailed look at gameplay, including Emma’s plant-based abilities and how combat, movement, and working alongside Koo fit together.

It’s a clear change of pace for Game Freak, moving away from its usual style and into a more action-driven direction.

What This Developer_Direct Is Setting Up

This Developer_Direct looks designed to give a straightforward look at how Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Beast of Reincarnation actually play, without rushing through the details.

Spending time with real gameplay should make it easier to understand the scale, pacing, and overall direction of each game as they move closer to release.

This article will be updated after the broadcast with highlights from the show. Developer_Direct airs January 22 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT.
