If you're planning to jump into the new Bond origin story, PlayStation has a custom controller to match. The 007 First Light Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller arrives for PS5 and PC on May 27, 2026. It brings a bright golden look and puts the iconic 007 weapon logo across the touchpad.

Preorders Open for the New Bond Controller

PlayStation priced the custom controller at $84.99 USD. Preorders go live on April 17, 2026, at 10 am local time through PlayStation Direct and other retailers. Custom DualSense drops have become a major part of this console generation. We saw it with the Ghost of Yotei controller and the recent Marathon release. Scalpers target these aggressively. Getting one at retail price requires being online exactly when the queue opens. You'll want to log in early to secure this one.

A Golden Tribute to a Legendary Spy

The design team went with a bright golden finish for the grips. It's a clear nod to the Golden Gun and the legacy of the older movies. The touchpad features a detailed gun barrel graphic, with James Bond's signature 007 logo sitting right in the middle of it.

PlayStation kept the face buttons clean and dark to let the gold do the talking. I always appreciate when PlayStation commits fully to a theme rather than just slapping a logo on a standard white controller. This one looks like a premium collector item.

007 First Light Brings Bond Back to Gaming

The 007 First Light Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller launches right alongside the game on May 27, 2026. This new entry from IO Interactive gives us an origin story where you play as a younger Bond earning his rank, which they recently detailed in their latest developer diary

PlayStation mapped the haptics to the game's explosions and tied the adaptive triggers directly into the gunplay. Feeling the recoil of different weapons through the triggers is still one of my favourite DualSense features. The developers are using the controller tech to make the spy gadgets and firefights handle differently.

GoldenEye 007 on Nintendo 64 was my introduction to the franchise in the 90s. Bond games went quiet for over a decade after that era. Seeing the classic gun barrel design on a modern controller brings back a lot of good memories. It's great to see the series returning, and I'll be logging in early on April 17 to try and secure one for my own collection.
