PlayStation has started rolling out its upgraded version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution across a growing list of PS5 Pro games. The newer version improves image stability, sharpens fine details, and gives developers more room when balancing performance and image quality on PS5 Pro.
The update arrives through the latest PS5 system software release, which begins rolling out in phases starting at 10:00 PM Pacific Time today. Supported games can also use the upgraded PSSR through an optional PS5 Pro system setting.
More PS5 Pro Games Are Getting the New PSSR
The upgraded version is now showing up across a much bigger part of the PS5 Pro lineup. Silent Hill f and Silent Hill 2 are both moving to it, while Monster Hunter Wilds, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Alan Wake 2, Control, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Nioh 3, and Rise of the Ronin are also adopting it on PS5 Pro.
Crimson Desert will ship with the upgraded PSSR when it launches on March 19, while Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 are set to get patches in the coming weeks.

Resident Evil Requiem Was the First Public Example
Back in February, Resident Evil Requiem was the first public example of the upgraded version running on PS5 Pro. Since then, the newer version has moved from one showcase title to a much broader list of current and upcoming PS5 Pro games.
Most new PS5 Pro titles will also launch with support for the enhanced PSSR going forward.
Project Amethyst Is Part of the Broader PS5 Pro Push
PSSR uses an AI library that analyzes each frame pixel by pixel while upscaling visuals. The upgraded version reconstructs images more precisely, improves motion stability, and holds finer details together better across supported games. The newer algorithm and neural network work are also tied to Project Amethyst, PlayStation’s partnership with AMD.
Upgraded PSSR is already live. Crimson Desert launches with it on March 19, and patches for Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 are still on the way.
