During PlayStation’s latest State of Play, Lionsgate and Saber Interactive officially announced a new John Wick video game now in development for PC and consoles. The project is a single-player, third-person action game planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

This is the next step after Lionsgate’s earlier confirmation that a large-scale John Wick game was in the works. This reveal finally attaches a developer, platform targets, and a clearer sense of scope.

A Full-Scale Action Game Set in the John Wick Timeline

The newly announced game is set within the John Wick universe years before the “Impossible Task.” Rather than adapting a specific film, it will tell an original story that expands the franchise’s criminal underworld, including familiar faces alongside new characters created for the game.

Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves are involved in production. Reeves is confirmed to be returning with John Wick’s likeness and voice.

Combat, Presentation, and Scope

Lionsgate and Saber describe the project as a mature, narrative-driven release built around the series’ signature gun-fu style. The announcement points to close-quarters gunplay, choreographed action, cinematic presentation, and driving sequences, all built around a single-player structure.

Saber’s involvement places the project firmly in the AAA space. The studio has recent experience delivering large licensed releases and action-focused games.

Earlier Confirmation and What This Adds

In January, Lionsgate confirmed during an earnings call that an AAA John Wick game was in active development, before any developer or platforms were named.

That initial confirmation outlined the studio’s plans to expand the franchise into high-budget interactive projects, which this State of Play announcement now builds on, following earlier comments from the company about its gaming plans.

Details Still to Come

No release window has been announced, and the reveal did not include gameplay beyond the cinematic trailer. It’s also still unclear how open-ended the structure will be or how progression will work across the campaign.

For now, the key details are straightforward: Lionsgate and Saber are building a single-player, third-person John Wick action game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with Reeves and Stahelski involved in production.
