Capcom shared a deeper look at Resident Evil Requiem during its latest Resident Evil Showcase, revealing new gameplay footage, story details, technology features, and several collaborations ahead of the game’s worldwide launch on February 27, 2026.

The showcase expanded on how Requiem balances survival horror and action, while also outlining platform support, cloud availability, and a wide range of physical and crossover offerings tied to the release.

Dual Protagonists and Playable Perspectives

Resident Evil Requiem stars FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and series veteran Leon Kennedy, with both characters playable throughout the game. Players can freely switch between first-person and third-person perspectives at any point, allowing the experience to shift between tighter horror and more action-focused combat.

Grace’s sections focus heavily on survival horror. Limited resources, smaller environments, and tough decisions around when to fight or avoid enemies shape her gameplay. A special device allows her to craft items using infected blood, adding flexibility at the cost of risk. Her signature weapon, the Requiem assault revolver, offers high power but limited ammunition, reinforcing careful play.

Leon’s gameplay takes a more aggressive approach. Armed with firearms and close-quarters tools like an all-new hatchet, Leon can parry attacks, seize enemy weapons such as chainsaws, and finish encounters with melee-focused takedowns. His sections emphasize momentum and combat mastery while still retaining survival elements.

Zombies, Mystery, and Difficulty Options

The showcase also highlighted changes to enemy behaviour. Zombies in Resident Evil Requiem display lingering habits from their former lives, such as repeating workplace routines or fixating on familiar actions. These behaviours can potentially be exploited to avoid or control encounters.

At the centre of the story is the concept of Elpis, which connects the death of Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, Grace’s past, and Leon’s involvement in the unfolding mystery. Players are left to piece together how these threads connect as the narrative unfolds.

Multiple difficulty options are available. Casual mode offers aim assist and more forgiving combat, while Standard (Classic) mode introduces tougher resource management and the return of Ink Ribbons for saving while playing as Grace, forcing players to carefully choose when to preserve progress.

Platforms, Cloud Access, and PC Technology

Resident Evil Requiem launches on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games Store, with all platforms receiving the game on the same day. The game will also be available in the cloud day one on GeForce NOW.

On PC, Capcom confirmed support for NVIDIA’s latest technology, including DLSS 4 and path tracing, offering improved lighting, performance, and image quality for high-end hardware.

Collaborations and Physical Releases

Several collaborations were revealed during the showcase. Watchmaker Hamilton has created two limited-edition watches inspired by the game, one worn by Leon and one by Grace. Only 2,000 units of each model will be produced, with availability beginning on launch day.

Porsche is also collaborating with Capcom, with a custom-designed Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT appearing in-game as Leon’s vehicle. The one-of-a-kind build was created using advanced 3D printing techniques and styled to match the game’s darker tone.

Additional announcements include 1/6-scale figures of Grace and Leon, a Resident Evil Symphony of Legacy concert tour celebrating the series’ 30th anniversary, Standard and Deluxe editions of the game, pre-order bonuses, a Nintendo Switch 2–exclusive Resident Evil Generation Pack, a themed Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, the first-ever Resident Evil amiibo featuring Grace, and a Premium Steelbook Edition with exclusive physical items.
