Nintendo has officially revealed the first new colour variants for Joy-Con 2 controllers, giving Nintendo Switch 2 owners their first real post-launch customization options.

The new Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Con 2 sets launch on February 12, 2026, the same day as Mario Tennis Fever. Pre-orders are already live through the My Nintendo Store and select retailers.

Colour swaps are nothing new for Nintendo, but this marks the first expansion of the Joy-Con 2 lineup since Switch 2 launched. Even as a small update, it’s an early sign that the platform is already moving beyond its launch window phase.

These Are Complete Joy-Con 2 Controller Sets

Nintendo’s store listing confirms that the Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Con 2 options are full controller sets, each including both a left and right Joy-Con 2 along with matching wrist straps. Like previous Joy-Con colour releases, these are cosmetic variants of the standard Joy-Con 2, with no changes to functionality.

Motion controls, HD Rumble, mouse-style inputs in compatible games, and the dedicated C Button for quick access to GameChat are all identical to the launch models.

In other words, you’re choosing a different look, not a different feature set.

An Early Signal From Nintendo

Nintendo usually waits before rolling out alternate controller colours, but these Joy-Con 2 variants are arriving relatively early in the Nintendo Switch 2 lifecycle. That timing suggests confidence in the hardware’s momentum and a quicker move toward personalization.

It also gives anyone who skipped picking up a second controller at launch an easy reason to jump in, especially as more local multiplayer-friendly games arrive. New controller colours normally aren't newsworthy, but they often hint at what’s coming next. Once colour variants start appearing, themed bundles and special editions usually aren’t far behind.
