| Prime Video announces Fallout Shelter, a new reality competition series inspired by the Fallout universe. |
By Jon Scarr
Prime Video has officially greenlit Fallout Shelter, a new unscripted competition series inspired by the world of Fallout. The show expands the franchise beyond games and scripted television, placing contestants inside a live-action version of Vault-Tec’s underground world.
The series will run for 10 episodes and is being produced by Studio Lambert in partnership with Kilter Films and Bethesda Game Studios. It joins the growing lineup of Fallout-related projects following the success of Prime Video’s scripted series.
How the Show Works and How to Apply
Set inside Vault-Tec’s underground shelters, Fallout Shelter places contestants into a controlled environment designed to reflect the core ideas of the Fallout universe. Challenges revolve around survival, decision-making, and cooperation, with players forced to balance short-term gains against long-term consequences.
The competition focuses on:
- Managing limited resources
- Building trust and working as a team
- Adapting under pressure
- Making strategic choices that shape how the game unfolds
The format stays grounded in Fallout’s core ideas, focusing on player choice, consequence, and the pressure that comes from surviving with limited resources. Contestants compete not just to survive, but to gain influence and control within the vault, with a large cash prize on the line.
Casting for the series is now open. Anyone interested in taking part can apply through Prime Video’s official casting portal.
Who’s Behind the Series
Fallout Shelter is produced by Studio Lambert, the team behind The Traitors, Squid Game: The Challenge, and Undercover Boss. The show is co-produced with Kilter Films, which also handled Prime Video’s Fallout television series, and Bethesda Game Studios.
The executive production team includes Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham for Kilter Films, alongside Todd Howard and James Altman from Bethesda Game Studios. Studio Lambert’s leadership team includes Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Toni Ireland, Stephen Yemoh, Stephen Lovelock, and Amina Badresingh.
Fallout Continues to Expand Beyond Games
The announcement reflects how Fallout continues to expand across different formats, from games and television to new types of programming. Between the ongoing support for Fallout 76, the popularity of the mobile game Fallout Shelter, and Prime Video’s live-action series, the franchise continues to grow well beyond its RPG roots.
Whether Fallout Shelter lands as a competition series will come down to how well it translates Fallout’s core ideas of survival and decision-making into a real-world format.
Additional details about the show, including its premiere date and contestant lineup, are expected to be revealed later this year.
