Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is coming to Apple Arcade on February 5 as Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Arcade Edition, making the strategy game available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The Apple Arcade release makes a mobile-focused version of the latest entry in the series available through Apple’s subscription service, which does not include ads or in-app purchases.

The Arcade Edition adapts Civilization VII for play across Apple devices while retaining its core structure. Players progress through multiple ages, guide leaders, expand cities, develop technologies, and interact with rival civilizations through diplomacy or conflict as their empire evolves.

Civilization VII Arcade Edition Brings Strategy to Apple Devices

According to 2K and Firaxis Games, the Apple Arcade version is being developed by Behaviour Interactive in partnership with Firaxis. The goal is to keep Civilization VII’s strategic depth while making it feel comfortable on mobile, including touch-first play on iPhone and iPad.

This entry also emphasizes evolving your empire over time, with strategic decisions shaping identity across distinct Ages. Players can lead as historical figures and choose a new civilization to represent their empire in each Age as the campaign progresses.

Touch Controls and On-the-Go Play

The Arcade Edition includes touch controls designed for iPhone and iPad, making it easier to jump in for a few turns and keep your campaign moving while you’re away from a desk. The game will also be playable on Mac, letting you play longer and on a larger screen.

It also joins other PC-originated games that have recently landed on Apple Arcade, including PowerWash Simulator and Cult of the Lamb Arcade Edition.

More Games Joining Apple Arcade on February 5

Apple Arcade is also adding several additional games on February 5, including Retrocade, Felicity’s Door, and I Love Hue Too+. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Arcade Edition launches the same day as part of an Apple Arcade subscription.

From an Apple Arcade perspective, this is an interesting mix. Civilization VII stands out in terms of scope, especially for players looking for something deeper on mobile. Strategy games like Civ tend to benefit from being playable across devices, and having access on iPhone, iPad, and Mac makes it easier to keep a campaign moving without being tied to one setup.

The other February additions help balance things out. Retrocade pulls from classic arcade games that are easy to jump into, while Felicity’s Door and I Love Hue Too+ focus on more contained experiences that work well when you don’t have a lot of time. The lineup covers different play styles without pushing everything in the same direction.

Overall, the February additions point to Apple Arcade continuing to support a range of game types, rather than narrowing its focus to a single kind of experience.
