Prime Video’s upcoming Tomb Raider TV series continues to build out its cast, with another well-known name now attached. According to a report from Deadline, Jason Isaacs has joined the series. Details around his role have not been shared, and the larger story for the show remains under wraps.
While this update does not come with character information or plot specifics, it adds another recognizable performer to a project that has been steadily assembling a notable lineup. It also reinforces the sense that Amazon is backing its take on Lara Croft with experienced talent from both film and television.
Jason Isaacs joins the Tomb Raider TV series cast
Isaacs brings a long résumé to the series. He is perhaps best known for playing Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, a role that made him instantly recognizable to a wide audience. Beyond that, he has appeared in films such as The Patriot, Black Hawk Down, Peter Pan, and Fury.
On television, Isaacs most recently had a starring role in The White Lotus Season 3, which earned him his first Emmy nomination. That mix of large-scale franchise work and prestige television makes him an interesting addition, even if it is not yet clear who he will be playing in Tomb Raider. For now, his involvement is confirmed, but further details have not been announced.
Current cast lineup for Amazon’s Tomb Raider series
The series is led by Sophie Turner, who stars as Lara Croft. Turner is best known for her role on Game of Thrones, and her casting was one of the earliest major announcements tied to the show.
She is joined by Sigourney Weaver, who has been confirmed to play a character named Wallace. British actor Martin Bobb-Semple is also part of the cast in an unspecified series regular role.

Who is making the Tomb Raider TV show
Behind the scenes, the Tomb Raider series is being led by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer. Chad Hodge, known for Single All the Way and Wayward Pines, is on board as co-showrunner and executive producer.
Shogun director Jonathan van Tulleken has also come aboard as executive producer and director.
Waller-Bridge previously described the team’s approach by saying, “Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out. Croft is coming.”
Tomb Raider across TV and games
This TV adaptation marks Lara Croft’s first major live-action appearance since the 2018 film starring Alicia Vikander. Before that, Angelina Jolie portrayed the character in the early 2000s film adaptations. Amazon’s series represents a new chapter for the franchise on television, even as many details remain closely guarded.
On the gaming side, Tomb Raider also has plenty lined up. At The Game Awards 2025, two upcoming Tomb Raider games were announced. A remake of the original 1996 game, titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, is scheduled to release in 2026. That will be followed by a new mainline entry, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, planned for 2027.
Both upcoming games will feature Alix Wilton Regan as the new voice of Lara Croft, taking over the role from Camilla Luddington.
Between the expanding TV cast and multiple games on the horizon, Tomb Raider is lining up for a busy stretch. Jason Isaacs joining the series is another clear signal that Amazon continues to invest heavily in its take on the franchise, even if much of the story remains a mystery.
