Lucasfilm Games, Secret Mode and AAA studio Fuse Games have announced Star Wars: Galactic Racer, a brand new racing adventure coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2026. Revealed at The Game Awards 2025, this marks the debut project from Fuse Games, a team led by former Criterion Games GM Matt Webster. As someone who grew up with Star Wars racing moments, seeing a fresh take on the concept instantly felt exciting. This is not podracing. It is something far more aggressive and unpredictable.
Galactic Racer is built around The Galactic League, an unsanctioned Outer Rim racing circuit where pilots compete in dangerous, high stakes runs. The pitch is simple. Only the bold survive. You race using repulsorcraft across planets new and old, navigating branching routes with varied hazards and opportunities. The idea that no two races play the same gives the game a strong runs based hook, the kind of system that encourages experimenting with different vehicle classes and playstyles.
A Story of Rivalry, Revenge and Skill
The game follows Shade, a lone racer aiming to carve out a name in the circuit. Shade’s biggest obstacle is Kestar, a ruthless rival with ambitions that reach beyond the track. The campaign sends you through alliances, grudges and close calls across the galaxy. Fuse Games describes the experience as skill driven, not mystical. No Force. No prophecy. Just nerves, strategy and quick reactions behind the controls.
Multiplayer adds another layer with competitive PvP races where you battle for position and build your reputation across each run. You can slam, shunt and take down opponents while building a reputation that follows you. Each run allows you to unlock abilities and customize your build, which feels like a natural fit for a racing game built around repeated attempts and risk reward decisions.
Lucasfilm Games and Secret Mode Back the Project
Matt Webster said the goal was to reinvent what a racing game can be, aiming for spectacular moments with meaningful choices during every run. Lucasfilm Games echoed that Galactic Racer taps into Star Wars racing influences, from podracing to high speed chases seen throughout the films. Secret Mode also described the project as bold and innovative, noting that Fuse Games is building something with identity and drama rather than a simple arcade racer.
