What Girl Taken Is About

Based on the novel Baby Doll by Hollie Overton, Girl Taken centres on twin sisters Lily and Abby, whose lives are upended when Lily is abducted from their rural English town by a trusted local teacher. Years later, Lily manages to escape captivity, but returning home proves far more complicated than she imagined. The world she remembers has moved on, and the trauma she carries does not stay buried.

As Lily, Abby, and their mother Eve try to rebuild their family, the series explores the long-term impact of abuse and the emotional cost of survival. The story also carries an ongoing sense of threat, as Lily’s abductor remains at large and continues attempting to control the narrative surrounding his crimes.

Cast and Production Details

The series stars Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones, Atomic) as Rick Hansen and Jill Halfpenny (The Cuckoo, After the Flood) as Eve. Real-life sisters Tallulah Evans (The Forsyte Saga, My Fault: London) and Delphi Evans take on the central roles of Lily and Abby.

Supporting cast members include Vikash Bhai, Niamh Walsh, Levi Brown, Victoria Ekanoye, Holly Atkins, and Kiran Krishnakumar.

Girl Taken is produced by Clapperboard Studios, with Mike Benson and Suzi McIntosh serving as executive producers and Mick Pantaleo producing. The adaptation was written by David Turpin, Suzanne Cowie, and Nessah Muthy, with directing duties shared by Laura Way and Bindu de Stoppani.

Commissioned for Paramount+, the series will be distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution in regions outside Paramount+ markets.

All six episodes of Girl Taken will be available to stream globally on January 8, 2026.

Given the subject matter, this is a series that may be best approached with care. Viewers sensitive to themes around trauma and recovery may want to keep that in mind ahead of its January debut.
