Nex Playground is still finding its footing in Canada. While the platform has been available in the United States since December 2023, it is much newer for Canadian families, and awareness here is still building. That makes early usage patterns in this market especially useful to watch, since they offer a clearer look at how the system is being adopted outside its original launch window.
According to a recent public post from developer Tic Toc Games, NexPets Puppies has held the top spot on Nex Playground for several weeks. The company did not frame this as Canada-specific performance, but rather as the game’s standing across the platform as a whole. On its own, that does not make it a defining success story. Still, within the context of Nex Playground growing its audience in Canada, it provides a helpful reference point when thinking about how the platform is being used right now.

This fits alongside what we have already seen since Nex Playground’s Canadian launch. In our earlier overview of Nex Playground arriving in Canada, we looked at how the system positions itself for families and shared play spaces. We also explored how licensed experiences like Unicorn Academy: Friendship Adventures fit into that approach. NexPets Puppies adds another piece to that picture.

NexPets Puppies and Its Place on Nex Playground
NexPets: Puppies is a single-player care game available on Nex Playground through Play Pass. It is rated for ages five and up and focuses on simple routines rather than goals or competition. You choose a puppy, care for it, and return regularly to feed, bathe, and play.
There is no pressure to perform well or move quickly. Progress comes through repetition and familiarity. Daily check-ins reward consistency rather than skill. For younger kids, especially those still learning how to follow on-screen prompts, that structure can feel more approachable.
From a parent or educator perspective, the design is easy to understand. There are clear actions, predictable outcomes, and very little that can overwhelm a child who prefers familiar patterns. That simplicity helps explain why the game has found an audience early on.

A Snapshot of How Families Are Using Nex Playground
From a parent and special education teacher point of view, NexPets Puppies’ popularity feels familiar in a good way. Games built around simple routines and predictable actions often become the ones kids are comfortable coming back to, especially when there is no pressure to rush or keep up.
For families who are still getting familiar with the system, we have also shared a Nex Playground setup guide before gifting that walks through what to expect during initial setup.
Seeing NexPets Puppies at the top of Nex Playground for several weeks points to it being a game that fits easily into everyday play. It is the kind of experience that works when you have a few minutes, or when a child wants something they already understand, without needing reminders or setup each time.
As Nex Playground continues to find its place in Canada, this moment feels less like a statement about the platform’s future and more like a snapshot of how families are using it right now. NexPets Puppies does not redefine anything here. It simply reflects the kind of calm, familiar play that seems to be working for families at this stage.
